I Scream Gelato - Plano, TX — Attraction in Plano

I paid $18 and some for gelato for two people - both of us ordered a Large Size (2 scoops), and I ordered it in a cone. Eighteen. Dollars. That is an hour’s worth of wage for some hourly workers.

It wasn’t a huge portion of gelato. It was a medium size. The flavors are VERY CLOSE to the actual thing, almost as if there is no distance between the flavor and the food it is coming from. What I mean is, if you get the mango flavor, you literally taste the fruit in each bite and the taste is so strong. I tried the Coffee flavor and it was bitter, just like actual coffee beans and there was zero effort made to dilute the ice cream to make it sweeter or different. I didn’t like any of it because it was too close to the real thing. The coffee gelato was nothing like the coffee ice cream I normally get from other places, which speaks to the amazing rawness of the flavors but……. The price was horrendous.

I came here recently an had an excellent experience from entry to exit. As soon as I walked in I was greeted. I was offered the opportunity to sample a few flavors. I ended up choosing vanilla and cheesecake with almond, I came here recently and had an excellent experience from entry to exit. As soon as I walked in I was greeted. I was offered the opportunity to sample a few flavors. I ended up choosing vanilla and cheesecake with almond, Oreos, and strawberry syrup as toppings. The lady behind the counter helping was patient; she suggested options and gave me service with a smile. As you can see in the picture the presentation was nice. A wafer is included with every order. I got mine to go and ate in one of the nearby chairs outside by the water.

The gelato was delicious. The vanilla flavor was perfect; it was rich and extremely delightful. The cheesecake flavor was also very delicious. The toppings I chose were very complimentary.

I very rarely leave bad reviews. I believe every place has its ups and downs but this place was really disappointing. Our family all ordered different flavors and they all tasted about the same. The chocolate was tasteless. The cone was stale. My daughter got Kit Kat ice cream and there was no difference than my plain chocolate. Then my husband got a milk shake and we waited an extra 15 minutes for it. A large milk shake for $12! Crazy!! It’s smaller than a medium in most places and we think it was just a scoop of gelato mixed with ice. There were chunks of ice in it and to top it off he also got Kit Kat flavor and we all agreed it tasted like coffee. We spent $40 and all left dissatisfied. We noticed the couple next to us didn’t seem happy either.
