We bought our leather sofa and loveseat from Leather Sofa Company (LSC) at their Inwood store in July of 2018. We were very concerned about durability and stain resistance because we have cats that throw up occasionally. We had a leather sectional that we bought from LSC 10 years earlier and it never had a problem with this. We brought this up when we were considering it and were assured that the leather was high quality and very stain resistant. With our past experience with their leather and these assurances we bought the leather pieces at a very high price, $6,880 plus $250 for insurance. Within 6 months 2 of the seat cushions had areas where the finish was marred from our cats throwing up. We bought the insurance and submitted the claim but, after many rounds of emails and resubmitting the same pictures over and over during many weeks, all we got was a cleaning kit. The email did say we could contact them if the cleaning kit did not work but we were exasperated by the process and did not feel we would get any satisfaction from the insurance company anyway. Fast forward another 6 months. Now all of the rest of the cushions have places where the finish and color were removed from our cats throw up. We submit another claim to the insurance and also took a few example seat cushions to the store to show them the areas. LSC representatives claim that there is no way this could happen without some other factor coming into play such as improper cleaning or some chemical getting on the leather. We always cleaned the leather with a proper cleaning agent. I felt the attitude presented by LSC was very smug and I am personally convinced this happened due to failure of the leather finish due to pet damage. They assured me the leather should not be damaged by our cat’s throw up but it was obvious to me that it was. They told me how much it would be to repair the cushions ($700-$1,000) but would not admit it was possible that the leather failed and did not offer to pay part of the repairs. There was a complete failure of customer service. We felt that they should take more responsibility for the event considering the price of the furniture. It is my opinion that their leather is not near the quality they claim it is. Their insurance company denied my claim and said that, since I did not follow through on the first claim, I am forever barred from collecting on any cushions no matter how much they are stained. Don’t bother to buy the insurance. LSC should not sell this terrible insurance. Uniters places short time limits on claims and any correspondence you have with them. Every email asking over and over for pictures states if not received in 10 days your claim is denied (and they will not make any exceptions). The whole process is by email without live agents and very impersonal. Now I have 5 cushions and one sofa arm all damaged by events I was assured by LSC should not damage the leather. We researched leather stain resistance and now know that more inexpensive leather is additionally treated on top and is far more stain resistant. We would have been better off buying the $3-4,000 sofa that looked just as good and wish we had done so. We have moved this sofa and loveseat into our living room that is not used as much and bought a man-made fabric sectional for our den where all this damage occurred. We are not going to spend more to have this fixed since we paid so much to begin with. Any notice of the stains by our guests will be accompanied by our story and our recommendation to stay away from LSC and Uniters. If you have young children or pets, it is my opinion that you should stay away from their products. The so-called “cheap” leather may be better for your situation or maybe even stay away from leather altogether. The fabric we bought for the replacement is polypropylene. This is supposed to be one of the most stain resistant materials. We have already had a few incidents with the new sectional and it cleaned up...
Read moreOne Saturday afternoon we walked into the Leather Sofa Company in Frisco, out of curiosity more than anything else. I had no idea what a custom leather couch would cost but the longer we stayed there, the more we wanted one. Our salesman, Jamie, was so professional and knowledgeable and he spent enough time for us to feel confident in our decision to buy from him. We didn't shop around because he earned our trust and we wanted to do business with him and the Leather Sofa Company. Needless to say, we made our selection of smoke gray metallic leather, gave him a deposit and left the store feeling really happy about our decision. Jamie managed our expectations so we knew exactly what would happen next and when, all the way to the delivery.
Our couch and ottoman are the most beautiful, well constructed pieces of furniture I have ever seen! I call it our "couture couch"! It's absolutely gorgeous.
I can't say enough about how much we appreciate Jamie and The Leather Sofa Company. The fact that they are local and the furniture is built in Lewisville gave us a lot of confidence. Every step of the process was exactly what Jamie promised all the way to the delivery folks who were on time, experienced and professional.
Thank you all at The Leather Sofa Company, for the best buying experience...
Read moreThe salesman worked hard to make the sale and he sold me alright then he dropped me like a hot potato and actually made the rest of the process more difficult and stressful than it needed to be. I inquired about the financing offered at purchase. He told me that was taken care of once the sofa was made and when I was contacted about delivery which is approximately 6 weeks from date of purchase. This simply isn’t true and he knew it, he just didn’t want to take the time to go through the process of application and approval. I had to go through another sales associate and then ended up having to go back to the actual store to take care of the application for financing. All this had to be done they’d deliver my sofa. Ray in the Frisco store ended up helping me. He went above and beyond to help me over the two day period it took to get all the ducks in a row. Ray is the only redeeming part of the sales experience at Leather Sofa Co. The sofa is beautiful and I have no complaints about the product thus far. Also of note, the delivery man made a comment about the price of my sofa and said he wasn’t “rich like me” and he could only afford to buy his leather sofa at Rooms to Go. This was totally inappropriate and unprofessional and made me feel very...
