Arranged three weeks ago for them to pick up furniture from our home. We were given a 9:30-12:30 window for pickup. We sent pics of what we had and the lady coordinating said she believed they could “most likely” take what was offered.
At 12:10 today we called because no one had showed up or contacted us. We’re informed they “got started late” and had other delays. But despite having means to contact us, not a word while we waited on them to show. We told the person we talked to that we had to go take care of other things as it was my husband’s only day off this week. We asked if they could come back after three, which was agreed to. A few minutes later the driver calls and tells us he’s “right here.” What, in the driveway? No, fifteen minutes away. We inform them we’re already leaving and they will have to come when it was agreed upon. Why should we waste more of our time waiting if they can’t respect our time when we’re TRYING TO GIVE THEM FREE STUFF???
The guys finally show up when agreed and are acting all surly, not even saying hello. Take half a glance of what we’re offering and finally spoke to inform us it’s “too damaged” to take. Which is hilarious considering I’m seeing other reviews saying they sell heavily damaged stuff without pricing it accordingly. I’m attaching pics of some of what was offered just to show I didn’t try to send them with garbage. It’s not showroom furniture, but if it was we’d be selling it as we’re not exactly rich.
It felt a lot like it was turned down just because we didn’t want to continue to sit around waiting forever for people who couldn’t so much as pick up the phone to let us know they’d be late. If they had, we could have done errands and then been back when they could actually show up. So I guess this stuff is going to the dump. It feels like a shame because it is fully usable stuff even if it isn’t perfect. I’d say it would certainly be of interest to someone who could get it for a reasonable price.
Long story short, donate elsewhere if you can. These people are petty and don’t respect your time at all. Stuff happens and delays happen, but the most basic courtesy of communicating with us could have saved us all a...
Read moreThis is a furniture store more than a building materials store.
Prices are rough, depending on what you want. This is probably the most expensive Habitat for Humanity I've ever been to. I lived in Oregon for a bit, and then Oakland / SoCal. So, I've seen most of the ones in the Portland / Seattle / Bay Area. The fact the prices here are more expensive than those in SF should speak for itself.
The quality of things is ok, but I don't go in and feel like I've found an amazing deal on things like I have at other habitats.
I tried to bring things to donate when I first moved only to be told they don't take decor (just building materials) and to take it to Goodwill. After that, I go into the store and see that not only do they have books for some reason, but also decor. I wish they would be more clear about what they do, and do not take.
I found a small countertop yesterday for $200 that would barely cover a cabinet, and a brand new couch (same model I used to own) from Overstock that was the same price as when I bought it brand new. If you are going for cost savings alone, IKEA will beat this place 9/10.
Some items (like wooden windows) are damaged beyond being usable without the price reflecting the damage, and the ones that are good quality are not a good deal. If your reason for coming here is cheap, good, and quality building materials, you might not find much.
Clallam County in general is expensive, so maybe this is a reflection of the area as opposed to this store. Either way, disappointing for a store that at some point tried to make home ownership / maintenance cheaper.
Now HFH is shifting gears towards raising prices for more donations. I run a non-profit, so I get it. But, should not be your first stop if you want a cheap way to build...
Read moreHas a large selection of used household items, furnishings and tools for work and garden. Also tiles and flooring. The prices are usually good, with only a few that would be close to new price. I haven't been there recently, but they used to have a stack of microwave plates in various sizes in case the one that came with your oven was broken. Some of the bargains are the new led bulbs in the package. A varied supply of bathroom towel holders and even some shrink-wrapped new things. Various sizes and types of doors. I found some good sliding doors for my closet that fit and were even the right color. Lights for all rooms and globes/lamp shades, I picked up 2 pendant lights for the house. Small packaged hardware--hooks, screws, bolts. Some days there are sales with different color dots on items that show a discount. Large appliances, too. Be sure to sit on the chairs/sofas before buying, to test the firmness and support. Test cabinet doors and drawers, too. Closed on Monday and Sunday. They take donations that are in working conditions ask them before dropping off. They might take awhile to pick up large items. The photos show the orig doors that were wrong size, the white doors were from habitat and the...
