when we first arrived on a Tuesday at 5:45 our group of four was seated in about 15 minutes. That was the only decent thing that happened. We first just asked for waters, and when we asked for straws the waitress totally forgot and we had to go to the bar to ask. We ended up having to go up to her like five minutes later to ask for them (the reason it mattered was we had a toddler in our group and he couldn’t yet drink out of an open cup, so we needed a straw for him). I should add it seemed like they were completely understaffed, it seemed like there were only three people were working the front, and there was absolutely no order, everyone was doing all the jobs, so when it came time to order we waited and waited and nobody came to take our order, finally we told the guy that was mostly seating people that we were ready to order, then we just sat for another five minutes before he rushed up to take our order. Seriously dude, why worry about getting people seated when they have to wait 20 minutes to order their food? We asked what the waiter would recommend, and they said try the pork belly, most people come here and say it’s a religious experience. Well it was not, it was hard as a piece of jerky and a piece of fat in the inside. It made us all sick. After ordering our food we waited and waited for our food. We arrived and were seated at 6:00, at 7:00 we still hadn’t received our food. I’m pretty sure there was one person working in the kitchen. At 7:00 we were all starving and hadn’t even received our starters ( aren’t you supposed to get those first??) we asked a worker if they could check if our food would be out soon, and they came back maybe five minutes with all of it. We order the loaded tots and they had hardly any cheese and were not good at all. The kfc nuggets tasted like they had been frozen. The udon noodle pork belly bowl was mostly just noodles… with a few pieces of disgusting pork belly. Then we waited and waited after finishing and had to ask for our check. We wasted a lot of time and money on food that wasn’t even good and made us all sick. We should have just gone...

Just awful. Taking a step back, we came here because of the glowing reviews. Walked in and got a table in 5m. Place was hopping. Good energy and smelled tasty.

Ordered a beer and a GnT. Cocktail was basically gin. Strong. Too strong without food.

Placed an order for a couple rice bowls because they said they'd be fast. How hard could that be? Wife and I proceeded to play some cards. By the 10th game we were not only hangry, but no one had come by for over an hour. I went up to the bar and asked about our food and was told that there were lots of people ahead of us, but we'd get food soon.

40 minutes later after that still no food. At this point the restaurant is technically closed. The group next to us still hasn't gotten their food and several other folks were waiting at empty tables.

Finally told the waitress's that we were going to leave. That we were hungry and that waiting 100 minutes! For food was too long. Within 5 minutes they brought out a couple mediocre bowls food. Took a couple bites and told them we were paying. They agreed and comped us. But asked us to pay for our drinks. At this point we were so upset we threw down a $20 and left.

Wanted this to be good. Really did. It's cute. Has character and ok food. But holy mother of god, waiting 100 minutes for rice bowls is insane. I will never do that again.

And you shouldn't either. This...

My husband loves the belly bowl from here, complete with the fried egg on top, but I'm not a fan of pork belly or rice (that's why it's two stars and not one). That being said, I have tried really hard to find something that I like so we can keep going there. After three visits of miscellaneous appetizers, I found the Philly cheese steak, substitute provelone for the plastic American, and found that it was made in the same way that I used to get it in Philly..BUT, that was once. I ordered it again and it was made in a completely different way, with the cheese on the bread rather than cooked with the meat. I thought, maybe it's a new chef, let's try again. The next time, there was so little meat on the sandwich, I couldn't really tell what it tasted like. I was just eating a dry french roll, with a hint of meat. In addition to that if you get the wrong waitress, nothing comes out right, and she is totally oblivious to water cups being empty and drinks needing to be ordered. She will argue with you about your order, and doesn't ever check back with you to see how your food is or bring you a check. I had really hoped we had found an alternative to the Gastropub downtown because they always have such a long wait, which makes them undesirable for us, but I think we need to...

Here's the short answer: If you like Asian and have a mouth, this is the place for you. The food is a delicacy and afterwards will leave you asking "What will I have next time?" The korean beef bulgogi tacos were crispy shelled, meaty, tangy, and a hint of acidity wrapped together. Nothing to complain, only a silent table and a scrumptious taco. The bim bap bowl is a lighter choice however don't be fooled, portions will still fill you up. The flavors are everything you want in a bim bap bowl, only suggestion is a helping of spicy mayo. The lemongrass chicken Udon... Where to start. The Udon noodles were cooked Al dente perfection, coated with a generous 2/3 spice level that brought out the spice but left the lemon acidity coating your mouth. The aftertaste was sweet and if you ate a piece of chicken with it, an embracing char grazed your taste buds. Accompanied by a crunchy equally charred to perfection helping of Vegetables, the Udon bowl is by far the best dish we've had. I only wish, we weren't here on vacation to try another dish, another day. PS: Tell your chefs and servers, and ask management, where's your Michelin star. Having eaten at a few myself, you have the food down and the service down. PPS: Please put signage on the building, or don't and keep it a hidden gem.

This is my favorite type of place. On the surface, it’s rough around the edges and has a very local feel to it. But once you walk through the door, you will find a fantastic place with interesting details and very good food. The person at front said they are having a terrible time finding good employees so they made the tough decision to have people seat and serve themselves in order to keep the restaurant going. We certainly didn’t mind and if anything, it enhanced the evening. We were all impressed with the quality of the food and I’d call Midtown Public House a must see place in Port Angeles. Don’t let the old and non descript exterior fool you. This is a great place to eat. There appears to be an attached bar that was pretty busy though we never went in since our parents were with us. Hope this place stays afloat. I think it’s great. Michael Delehanty Compass Real Estate

This restaurant was absolutely lovely, service was really great and WOW THE FOOD!! Absolutely have to come back (all the way from Seattle) again very soon to have it again. We had the pork belly appetizer, bulgogi sandwich and Korean spicy fried chicken sandwich. All of the items were AMAZING - I even wanted more of the pork belly with some hot honey for desert… I haven’t really liked belly in the past, not yet available as a desert but I’m hopeful! 🤞😉🥰 I had. A couple lovely drinks, they had a diverse selection of flavored vodka including huckleberry. A must have anytime you’re within an hours drive! They even had a giant chess board to play!
