Will everyone who has written a negative review of this restaurant please just stay away and leave Via Delizia to those of us who adore it. I don't recognize the restaurant you are describing! I live across the street, and my husband and I go there at least 3 times a week - for breakfast, for lattes, for prosecco, for happy hour, or for lunch or dinner. We've been going to Via Delizia for four years now, so I can safely say we've been there roughly 600 times! We've had virtually everything on the menu, nearly every flavor of gelato and countless lattes. I am a former restaurant owner and the thing I appreciate most about Via Delizia is the consistency. From year to year, the dishes are always the same - and they are wonderful! We always take visitors there - especially for breakfast - and they love it. The service is professional and exceptional, and ALWAYS courteous. The owner - Alex - is a bit eccentric, but he has a heart of gold and hands down makes the best espresso drinks in Portland. The restaurant (and kitchen) are immaculate, so I don't know where the one comment about "filthy" came from. Yes, prices have increased recently and the portions are somewhat smaller (they used to be huge), but this is the first price increase in four years! Get real; restaurant prices must go up occasionally for the owner to stay in business!!
Via Delizia and it's staff are a wonderful resource in our neighborhood, and have a large and loyal following in the Pearl. As I said at the start of this review, please take your negative thoughts somewhere else and leave Via Delizia to those of us who cherish it.

Read moreThis used to be my favorite restaurant in Portland, but they recently changed things - and not for the better. This review is based on their dinner experience. Prices increased several dollars and portions were decreased by a third.
I always order the fettuccine alfredo, but the sauce was not the usual one... Much thinner, bland, and not much of it. I also had a tough piece of chicken and some chewy fat on another piece. This usually wouldn't bother me, but at $17 for a tiny bowl of pasta, I expect perfection in every bite.
My dad ordered the paella, and he gave it a 3/5. Also a very small portion, and it was more like a soup with rice and some seafood. Very few vegetables. Paying $20 for that was frustrating.
We looked at their online menu while waiting for a table, and the new dinner mention is far different. Fewer options, some ingredients were removed from the items still on the menu.
The service and atmosphere are still great, but I won't go back because the portion size just isn't worth the new higher prices. And also because the alfredo sauce pales compared to what it used to be. Maybe they put the wrong site sauce on my dish? This wouldn't be the first time they've gotten an...
Read moreCame here for lunch at noon on a wednesday, was pleasantly greeted with a cute little restaurant and peaceful ambience. We ordered first the bruschetta, which was fantastic and good sized. For the mains, I ordered a spaghetti bolognese, in addition to spaghetti with meatballs and a tuscan sandwich with a caesar salad. I was a bit disappointed with my bolognese, it was a bit too sweet and creamy for my liking and i was unable to finish it. The spaghetti with meatballs seemed good when i tried it, though. The sandwich with the caesar was alright, but the salad overwhelmingly too fishy and anchovy-y and i could barely eat it. After finishing, my partner got a scoop of the gelato, but was disappointed to see a hair in it halfway through. Combined with some slightly dirty plates and utensils we got when we first arrived, I can’t ignore possible concerns over cleanliness issues. overall, the food was pretty hit or miss; the service was great, but some little things here and there contributed to a...
