Lots of homeless and addicts hanging about. I took my son for a walk though Providence on Labor Day Monday and he asked to stop at the park to play. Park itself was lovely, but there were lots of people camped out just sleeping in the middle of the day. Openly drinking alcohol and many "nodders", some asked us for money preying on a child's innocence. My son saw a dog and couldn't resist asking to pet. I can see authorities giving the block as a way to contain it. I’ve seen the same in other jurisdictions. Once an element steps off the block though, they are open game.
Idk that is what providence does but I did see this block divided up into various units by those who assemble there. Looked like a yard to me.

I didn't feel safe at all. There were rats around the fountain, in all the trash cans and on the playground. The park was full with junkies and homeless people. I do understand that they don't have any place to live, but the city should solve somehow this problem and help...
