This is a long one, but the TL;DR is. Dan worked with me and my tight schedule and worked miracles so that I could propose to my now fiancé while we were out enjoying the sights of Utah. I would go back in a heartbeat and send anyone who asked me for advice on a jeweler to see.
Little bit of backstory first. I am live and work in Michigan and occasionally get sent out to our other locations around the country to support them when our workload is light and theirs is heavy. This trip I was here for most of the month of April, and my girlfriend was slated to come out for the last 5.5 days of my trip (Days 16-21) to see some of the sights of Utah.
I walked into Dan's shop 5 days into my 21 day work trip just after they had closed, they were closing up shop but let me in nonetheless. After telling Dan that I was mostly interested in engagement rings he directed me towards the 2-3 cases he had with engagement rings and was willing to pull out any of one of the bunch for me to look at closer. We also discussed the differences in Diamonds and he gave me a crash course on not only the grading, but how diamonds are cut and readied for the end user. We also spent some time discussing a particular setting I took a fancy to and expressing my concerns with the design, he offered to get ahold of the manufacturer to see if the alterations could be made.
He called me the next day and said that he had found a stone that was within my parameters and budget, and also happened to be 10% larger than I had sent him out looking for. I told him to go ahead and get it on order. When the stone come in the following day (Day 7) I went back to the shop and further discussed the setting and he said he would work with the manufacturer to get a modified version of the setting. At that point he asked what my deadline would be. I said I would really like to have it by the following Friday as I would be popping the question that weekend while the girlfriend was here. He said that it might be tight but he would talk with the manufacturer and see what they could do.
The following day he called while I was at work and let me know that the setting manufacturer said they could have him the setting on day 15 which would give him plenty of time to wrap up the ring for me to pick it up on Day 16. I swung by on day 15 and he said that he had not received the setting yet but the manufacturer promised he would have it the following day, I said I could pick it up Saturday (day 17) if he needed the extra time, paid my down payment, talked about jewelry making and how setting stones worked in excess of 30 minutes.
Just after noon on day 16 he called me to inform me that the ring would be ready for me to pick up that evening as he got the setting early that morning. I swung by just before close and picked up the ring. We talked again about operating businesses, precious metal refining and prices, a really down to earth guy would loves his trade and willing to discuss any facet of the company to some random guy off the street.
My girlfriend and I drove to Zion National Park and hiked Angel's Landing, once we reached the top, after catching our breath a proposed and we hiked our way back down no longer boyfriend/girlfriend but as fiancés.
I will be stopping by any time I am back in town even if it is just to say hi and check in, I appreciated every bit of the experience and it made everything even more memorable.
Thank you Dan, you are a worker of miracles. 13 days from the initial meeting to a successful proposal with a semi-custom setting to boot. You will forever be a part...
Read moreI was very impressed with The Jeweler's Bench throughout the entire process of purchasing an engagement ring. Dan and his staff were extremely helpful. The first time I went in I was able to browse through many different rings and styles at my own pace. I felt no pressure to buy, rather they were truly interested in helping me find the right ring for my now fiance (even if that meant me buying it elsewhere). There is a clear difference between the price and quality of the jewelry here, versus other shops that I went to. Low overhead costs combined with Dan's expertise and years of experience as a jeweler allow him to offer a very high quality product at very affordable prices. I was able to find a beautiful custom ring at a fraction of the cost of rings that I considered at other jewelry shops which I didn't like as much.
When it came to selecting a diamond, Dan sat down with me and showed me all of the diamonds in my price range. He explained to me the difference between each of them, and how those differences affected the prices. He let me examine the diamonds myself so that I knew exactly what I was buying. The salesmen at other places I went to were unable to answer all of my questions, but Dan is an experienced Jeweler and very knowledgeable. After speaking with him I was very confident that the diamond I selected was the right one.
On top of all this, they have an incredible warranty on their product (see the website for details). I chose to surprise my girlfriend with the proposal, she had no idea that I was going to propose, and I had never received any indication from her on what kind of ring she would like. Their money back guarantee gave me flexibility in case I picked the wrong ring style. (by the way she LOVED the ring)
After the proposal they were very helpful with re-sizing the ring. It was done quickly and now fits her perfectly.
I am extremely satisfied with my purchase, and would never shop anywhere else. Give Dan a try...
Read moreI second the experience of many of the reviews here, but had an experience that I’d love to share as well. My needs were quite unique, and DJ and Dan were incredibly easy to talk to and get what I needed. I came in on a whim to see if I’d be able to buy some of their tools for a project of my own. Weird ask, I know. Here I am a 22 kid coming into a professional shop asking for something they don’t actually sell. Some places might turn you away, or at least be hesitant to entertain an odd request, but these two were happy to help! I’m very inexperienced, and wasn’t even certain about what I needed for my project, but I was quickly introduced to the jeweler, and I sat there and soaked in his expertise as he answered my questions. I mean where else is that going to happen?? As someone learning, that was an extremely valuable opportunity for me, and I’m very grateful to them. But that’s not all. After answering my questions, I ordered something through them and came in only one full business day later to pick it up. When I arrived, I noticed the tool parts I had ordered were significantly more expensive than I had expected. I asked DJ for clarification, and he was as shocked as I was when he saw the price. Because of the custom nature of my order, and because the payment had already gone through, I steeled myself for the worst news. But no! These guys take pride in their brand, and DJ went to work to see what had happened. To make a long story short, I was refunded much of the money, and I was satisfied by the final cost of my order. I can’t highlight enough that this was a custom and tailored customer experience. Business is business, and these guys could’ve chose to let me look elsewhere or even to accept the large cost. Instead, they helped me every step of the way, and Dan even offered some of his expertise to me.
You won’t get that kind of experience just anywhere folks, but you’ll...
