Bug infestation, lying staff, experience that is now leading to small claims court. Unbelievable what myself, my two friends, one pregnant, one with asthma, and my 62-year-old mother underwent at this hotel. On 6/27, we checked in. We booked here since every hotel on the island had no availability as it was pirate's weekend. Immediately the room was dingy and dirty but as it was 11pm when we checked in we stayed. 24 hours later, around 10:30pm on 6/28, we found a roach-looking bug inside of our room. We went downstairs with a picture, to which they said they would spray the room with insecticide, expecting us to sleep in the room afterwards. They did not say whether or not they believed it was a roach. They did not come up to our room to look at the bug. There was no staff present other than 2 20 something boys and one 20 something woman behind the counter. Reminder - staying with an asthmatic, pregnant woman, and my 60 something mother. Absolutely not sleeping in a room that was JUST sprayed with insecticide. I asked them to find us a room at one of their other facilities, to which they told us MULTIPLE times there were no availabilities and nothing they can do for us. Asked them to call around to other hotels, and continued to say there was nothing they could do. We immediately packed, called the jet express to ensure we could get on the last ferry leaving at 11:45pm that night. As we left, we said "are you sure there is no where you can put us," basically begging for any kind of accommodation at this point, to which they continued to refuse. Only to drive an hour and a half home, two vehicles, one of my friends who is uncomfortable with highway driving had to drive my mother's car as she has glaucoma and cannot drive at night. We paid $900 for two nights here. One we completely did not stay for. The next morning, Rhonda the "general manager" gave us a call. She was incredibly rude, dismissive, and gave us no apology for what we experienced saying, "we dont give refunds for beetles." Okay well Rhonda, maybe you should have an exterminator on call to verify during experiences like this. Or a staff that is willing to look themselves. Or attempt to accommodate us, or give an apology. She continually lied on the phone and contradicted herself multiple times, at one point saying she herself was present for the interaction. She absolutely was not. Lied saying that the staff offered us a place to stay, which we refused. It absolutely did not happen otherwise we would have 1000% taken it rather than rush to get off the island and home at 2 am. She has refused any compensation. We have put a hold on the charge, and will be taking them to small claims court. Roach or not, this was handled incredibly unprofessionally. You do not allow people to be stranded and then blame them and lie about the situation. $900 for two nights, bugs, straight up pathological lying staff. This is more than an issue of money but an issue of morality. Disgusting business practice and terrible excuse for a "hospitality" establishment.

I booked this hotel before reading all of these reviews, and boy am I glad I did! This place was wonderful, clean, spacious, convenient, accommodating, among many other great things. We stayed from June 15 until June 18 of 2021, and I couldn’t have been more pleased. We had the 3 bedroom, 2 bath suite. They are dog friendly, as is pretty much everything on the island. Bay lodge is in walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and attractions. They have golf carts available on site also! The pool area was also fantastic, along with Jaylen, one of the bartenders. He was super nice, and had a great attitude! There was zero issue with getting any extras we needed (blankets, towels, ice, etc.). Our stay here was awesome, peaceful and overall very enjoyable. If/when I return to Put-In-Bay, I will definitely be staying at the Bay Lodge! The owner, Steve was great, starting from the very first phone call and the entire way through our stay. Any questions I had, I just called him up and he got back to me immediately! And trust me, I had a lot beings it was our first time and we had no idea what to do or even expect! He was also very accepting of my Rottweiler, which most people aren’t! 10/10 would recommend! Thanks to all the staff at Bay Lodge! You are wonderful and played a big role in making our vacation perfect! Don’t not book this because of the negative reviews, because honestly, I found zero issues!

Staff was very kind & friendly. The room was freshly painted & appeared clean. EXCEPT for the toilet 🤮 was very dirty. Toilet paper was very, very cheap. The only way to get fresh towels was to take your dirty towels downstairs & across the parking lot to the laundry area. The bar area has 2 frozen drink machines that were not filled & had visible bees entering & floating in the liquid that had not been emptied. We were there Tuesday thru Sunday. The bartender said it would be cleaned and refilled in the weekend, but it never happened. The continental breakfast was only available on the weekdays !! The cost of Tues thru Saturday with checkout on Sunday was $2287.39. It was way too expensive for such a laid-back atmosphere.

I'll start by saying these rooms are very dated and the hotel itself is not kept up well. I'm not sure how other people are seeing this place as great. Our showerhead upstairs and downstairs had one single stream coming out of it. Couldn't even get wet. The shower upstairs also had a leak that sprayed from the top and puddled on the floor outside the shower. Went to the front desk and told the girl there. She didn't write it down or put a work order in. Had to go back a couple hours later and speak to someone else. It felt like they really didn't want to fix it. Here I'm just trying to save them on water damage and get what we paid for. We told them to go in when we weren't there. They didn't. Had to call and ask again. They said they wanted to wait until someone was there. I'm not sitting there on vacation to wait for something to be fixed. Just fix it. Guy comes to fix it (Friday)and asks if it's something he can fix after we check out on Sunday... um no, we literally paid for 3 beds and 2 showers and none of the showers worked. Just fix it. Total booking from Thursday to Sunday was around $3000. I've paid half that in Mexico at in all inclusive resort. I don't know how but all of the smoke detectors had some sort of filth splashed on them. Light in the upstairs bedroom ceiling was cracked in half. Shower downstairs was not usable as it had one single stream. All signs, marketing banners pool chairs were extremely weathered. Looked like they went through the winter outside. They have a rule about not getting stains on your sheets which is laughable since 2 out of the 3 beds sheets had stains on them, gross. Walls were dirty, toilet barely flushed, TV only had one channel and it either had South Park or the Office, which was funny. Even the toilet paper was see through and scratchy. Be careful getting in and out of the pool as the side rails are not anchored and wobble back and forth. That's a huge liability. Golf carts aren't cleaned out from one person to the next. Had to clean ours out to use it. Really the owner needs to do a punch list on the amount of items needing fixed here. If you don't fix anything, charge the actual worth of the room which is motel prices at best. If you are going to charge resort prices, it better look like a resort. This place can't expect to add charges to someone's bill when there rooms...

This hotel was unclean and unprofessional. THE ROOM: Upon entering the room, it smelled as if the door hadn’t been opened in months. The bathroom smelled of stale smoke and the room smelled stuffy and closed in. We opened the dirty windows just to let some fresh air in and get some of the old air out. Went to turn on the WiFi, it DOES NOT work in the second building. The password kept saying incorrect but if you walk into the building where the clerk is, the password works great. We were placed into a 2 queen room. One bed felt like it had sand in the sheets, the other bed felt like I was sleeping in dirty sheets and the mattress actually had divots where bodies had slept in the past, it did not allow for a pleasant sleeping experience. THE SERVICE: Terrible. I repeat, it was TERRIBLE. My husband and I mistakenly made reservations and paid for 1/2 the stay for a Monday night weeks before our stay (for our anniversary) thinking we made them for a Tuesday night. We received an email reminding us of our stay the Sunday before we were going to stay and it said Monday night. So we called to see if we could switch the day and they informed us they could not move the date, that they don’t do that. So we lost $101 and made reservations for Tuesday which cost us another $180. Upon arrival we had 2 reservations because they DID move the first reservations but still had us pay for the 2nd reservation. We were shocked. The clerk called the manager Amber (who refused to speak with me but was adamant on speaking to my husband) and Amber then argued with us and accused us of making the 1st reservations the night before. It was a disaster. So we paid $280 to stay 1 night in this hotel and then they wouldn’t even put us in a room with WiFi or a single bed (again, it was our anniversary). The management is terrible. There are so many wonderful places we saw on the island luke the Islander or Edgewater resort where it looks as though people are enjoying their stay and the bartenders are MUCH friendlier than the woman who was bartending/clerk/cooking at...
