Perry's Cave is my kids (age 8 and 12) favorite spot at Put-in-Bay due to the gem minning and the overall atmosphere. You can buy a bag for $12, $15, $30, or $50.00 inside the store. Then you will go outside to the running water and find the hidden rocks when the sand is sifted away. I bought the $15.00 for each kid and they received a good amount of stones/quartz. You can view in the photo the approximate amout of rocks from one bag laying out on the wood. There is a challenging 18 putt putt golf course with landscaped trees and waterfalls. There are benches for a break if needed throught the course. There is a combo pack to participate in various things to do at this spot (does not include gem minning). The cave is also located here too with a wealth of history to go along with it. The steps to go down are steep and it is a lot cooler down there. I HIGHLY SUGGEST if you are interested in going down into the cave, immediately check the next available time you can enter the cave. We arrived at 1:30p and the next opportunity to go down into the cave was 3:30p. This way you can choose to buy your ticket and enjoy the rest of the activities at Perry's Cave or return at a later time (or skip the cave like we did). At this same location is the Butterfly House. It is kept at 90 degrees just an FYI and your time inside is unlimited. You can also step back in time and view old cars in a builing for free...... On another note, our routine is to arrive at Put-in-Bay by the Jet Express around lunch time. It docks down town near a shadded park area for the kids, photo below (with a public bathroom). I pick up a large thin crust cheese pizza from Cameo Pizza for $19 and all 4 of us eat it in the park at a pinic table. This is a thrify way to go with a beautiful view and the kids can play at the park at their leisure. Check prices online for various activities to do here before you arrive. The internet is not the greatest on the Island. I highly suggest screen shooting a map of the Island before you arrive so you may refer back to it on your phone. On the average a 4 seater golf cart is $15 an hour while a 6 seater cart can be $20 an hour. Some places offer Dailey rates, I got a 6 seater (the extra room is nice especially to put a cooler or backpack on) all day for $80.00 Next to Cameo pizza. A helpful tip, when my kids were younger I would take our vehicle across by the Miller Ferry. This way if the weather wasn't the greatest, I never had to worry about it. Plus it was a quiet environment for the little ones...

We went kind of off season. Butterfly place was closed and so was the maze. Did gem mining (15 for a bag of dirt) two kids spent 15 minutes sifting and found a ton of little rocks and it included a guide. They thought it was pretty cool. 18 rounds of mini golf each one had little tidbits about perry and the battle of put n bay. Was fun. Antique car place is small but very interesting. Jam packed full of antique cars and bikes. Bout the size of a pole barn so not a ton but enough. The cave was cool. Our tour guide was sweet and informative and funny. They had a couple of clowns scare us for Halloween turning on and off the lights. It was funny and we enjoyed that very much. It was worth the money for all the events and the staff were very polite. It all only took about 2 2.5 hrs and it's basically everything you can do with kids so take your time if youre trying to kill a day with kids. Go to the crystal cave and winery right across the street. Some adult beverages and still pretty kid friendly. Make this a package deal even though they aren't owned by the...

We loved the family fun center!! First, we hit the cave. I hadnt been since I was a kid. My girls had a blast! My poor husband is tall so sucked for him a little 😂 Our tour guide was great and had some good history with a funny twist! Next, we hit the panning outside. My 4 year old picked out and watched her geode get cracked open! By far, her fav souvenir!! All of the kids loves panning for gemstones amd we bought 2 big bags. The one year got bored bur was happy to just play in the water! Then, we hit the big maze. I'll be honest i did not have high expectations! But utvwas so fun! My girls loved the race against the clock! My 11 year old would have won but she went back to help her sisters 😂 My 9 year was too old by 60 seconds!! So much more fun than we expected!! Last, was the mini golf! Such a fun course but those water hazards suck!! We lost like 4 balls! Overall, we had a blast and will be back! We were a little set back by the cost at first but we spent 4 hours there so we got our money's worth!! Plus my cousin...

Maze: Geared towards kids (as advertised), simple, fun). Cave: Pretty neat, and a good starter cave if you've never been in one before. Was an extremely short tour, though, so that was a little bit underwhelming. However, the guide, Jaden, was very cool. We enjoyed the snark. Butterfly House: The staff was very friendly (one woman gave my boys bubbles to keep them occupied while we waited for our cave tour - we were sitting on the front porch and they were getting a bit rambunctious). The gift shop had a lot of lovely and neat things. The actual butterfly house was one large room full of plants. It was hot and humid inside, and full of butterflies flitting about (as one might expect). It was peaceful, yet kind of quietly exhilarating as we sat and waited to see if any butterflies landed on or near us. And they did! Very cool, and would definitely come back.
