Total scam of a cancellation policy. Beware.
I bought a house April 20, 2023 and had to cancel my membership. Enjoyed the gym while i was there. HOWEVER, on May 2, 2023 at 5:58 i signed out for the last time and told them I needed to cancel. I talked to one of the girls at the front how it was my last day and i was cancelling. She said no problem and did something with pc and said i was all good to go. I asked if i was good to remove the app etc and she said yeah no issues.
December 3, 2024 I called the gym and my bank. I told the GM that i was told it was cancelled and she said there was no record of it. I told her to look at my last check in and got a snarky response of still no cancellation on record. I told her I was going to put a stop payment and she said “we will still bill you and itll go to collections.”
It is now December 16, 2024 and my claim with the bank for 18 months worth of membership has been resolved. Over $810 was siphoned from my account. I was assured it was cancelled. I was lied to. My bank gave me back $224
I now will have to go through the courts to get the rest of my money back.
Failure on their end to properly train their employees on how to cancel is the Crunch Fitness’ responsibility.
Also contacting WRAL, BBB and News and Observer as these shady business practices are absolutely unacceptable.
They have zero online customer service. They want you to mail in a certified letter to cancel. Cant cancel on the website. Cant cancel via email or over the phone. Its a damn scam.
Yes I read the contract. You are in the wrong Crunch. I have my proof. Look at your BBB and Google 1 star reviews. All the same type...
Read moreThis gym is awesome! They have great equipment, classes, it is not expensive, it is convenient to where I live and clean, but I have to say what makes this gym is the staff. I had been working out at my company gym for the last 19 years, but when COVID shut down gyms, I did workouts outside. When gyms opened back up, I decided I wanted something different - I wanted to be challenged in my workouts and I wanted a gym close to home since I was still working at home. I joined Crunch and decided to try the free session with a trainer. This is where I want to give a big shout out to the training staff - Dallas, Jacob and, especially, the Fitness Director Jay Banks. I met with Jay for my fitness assessment. He took time to sit down and go through what types of workouts I was use to and what my goals were. After our first session together, I was hooked and I have worked out with him twice a week for 8 months. He writes my workouts for the other days of the week. My body fat has gone from 24% to 18% and I feel better and stronger than I ever have at age 50. Jay stayed focused on my personal goals, he is the most knowledgeable person that I have ever met when it comes to weight training. In 8 months, not once have I done the exact same workout. A gym has always been part of my daily routine, but Jay helped me with new ways of training so that I could see results. If you have fitness goals and you are struggling to reach them or are simply just stuck in doing the same ol same ol, you need to come see Jay and his staff. Do the free assessment and you will be hooked just like...
Read moreThis location should not be a "Select" club. For reference, I've been to several other standard locations, and they have all provided the same if not more amenities than the Cameron Village location. I opted to pay more for this location for my own convenience of working and living nearby, and compared to most other gyms in Raleigh it is still worth the rate they offer. It's just annoying that 15 minutes away the Creedmoor location is almost half the cost for a larger, less crowded gym. The only unique amenity Cameron Village offers over other Crunch locations is the outdoor area, which is pretty nice, but not enough to warrant a $20/month price hike.
My experience with the staff has always been great, and switching from a standard membership to a select one was relatively seamless. I know a lot of people have mentioned that they had a hard time managing their account, but I did not have any issues myself.
The only things I am less than satisfied with the gym itself is the cleanliness of the locker rooms and the crowdedness at peak hours. The sauna has trash and dirt piling up under the benches, and the exhaust in the restroom may or may not be broken because it can smell pretty bad throughout the entire locker room when someone blows up the toilet. I don't recommend going to this gym right at 5 because it is relatively small and fills up pretty quick. Other than that time slot, I've had no trouble finding open equipment early in the morning and...
