Terrible service! Racist staff, specifically Don the store manager. My family and I went in to get Valentine's day supplies and had a bit of trouble finding some other things but when my mother had questions she had to chase down a staff member to help. It was as if there was no one available the second that we needed it. As our visit went on my younger sister had to use the restroom which had a lock that has to be opened by an employee. I went in search of someone to help me (With a seven year old who really needed to go) and didn't come across Don until I walked through the store twice. I politely asked if he could help us and he seemed reluctant to, telling us that we should go wait by the door for the woman already in there to finish and open the door for us. So I went to wait to get in the bathroom and a few mimutes later he comes and opens the door all while telling us that the restroom was two stallls. When it came time to pay for our items we got in line where there were two cashier behind the desk. One was Don who was attempting to talk to his co worker and ignoring the fact that my family and I ,along with other customers, were waiting in line and the other was a woman ringing up a customer. As soon as my group went to the working cashiers, Don all of sudden decided to announce that those behind us should come get checked out by him. The trouble doesn't end there though, when we got to the register and were paying. My mother handed over six hundred dollars in cash that she had just got from the bank. The cashier had Don (The store manager) come check the bills which he held up and then proceeded to "take" them to a machine in the back. When he came back we were told her one hundred dollar bills that she had just got from the bank were counterfeit. My mother knew this to be a lie and proceeded to tell him that the bills were not fake and to bring to light his racist and discriminatory actions. I am truly disgusted by the treatment I received in this facility by lower ranked employees and management.
My friend and I came to this store to buy art supplies and check out the clearance section, and the moment we entered we were given shrewd looks by staff, and stared down by some young black female employee, who made both of us feel very uncomfortable. She continued by awkwardly following us around and decided to just stand in our general vicinity while ignoring us, no offering of assistance, much less a friendly greeting.
This was followed by a middle aged woman(white with long grayish hair, and a short stocky build) who was much more interactive than the previous employee. She was "great", she gave us a lovely condescending attitude and provided such a poor excuse for customer service which parred close to her other much younger team members. This lovely woman insinuated that we were stealing, and made shrewd comments that was inappropriate.
There was one employee I would love to praise here and unfortunately her name wasn't memorable, but I would like to call her cart female employee(she was a young, stocky, dark hair colored , possibly white). This lovely girl wanted us to remember our experience in this store by stating around the lines of " If you feel uncomfortable you are welcome to leave".
I don't, We don't, No one deserves to be profiled and made to feel uncomfortable the moment you enter a store. And I would hope upper management reprimand these women who clearly shouldn't be working in customer service and be trained in how to treat a customer.
To the cashier, I applaud you for working, as far as I can see you were the most adequate employee there, working and doing their job, unlike these other women who would want to just follow a customer around and treating them like a common thief just by profiling.

Read moreMany times I went to this store,they sell many kinds of craft supplies,very good selection so far and with the coupons it's really help with the price. Unfortunately seems always short on staffs,it's hard for me few of times to find a staff just for ask a question about some product they sell,need to around half of the store (are they camouflage somewhere so I can't find them easily? ). Usually only 1 cashier open (most of it 2) so I can be waiting bit long line on cashier,especially on holiday season when the store mostly busy. When the line became very loooooong....and then they initiate open another cashier line. I seen some new face of staffs before (mostly teenager)..and they are very sweet and friendly, unfortunately seems they not work long there(they not really like work there maybe?) I found some staffs is not friendly at all...smile people..,smile..,that's how you make your customer happy. As a handmade card maker,I personally love Michael's store,if I were a child is like a candystore,I can spent an hour or plus and then bought piles of supplies there. Unfortunately..,many times I prefer shopping michaels online,went to Target or Walmart since not enough smile there. As a long customer of Michaels online or on the store,many times I still dissapointed with the customer service in this store,I hope on the future there will be more patience and smiles.
