Let's preface this review with the fact it's our second visit to Thali. We had gone before, and we loved it. Superb food and excellent service, in a fun atmosphere. We couldn't wait to return. This visit turned out to be all the more disappointing because of our previous experience. The food was still quite good, but the service was nothing short of dismal and unacceptable. There appeared to be about half a dozen employees working on the Friday night we were there. They were either employees, or they were friends who went back and forth into the kitchen area and occasionally helped out. It was hard to tell. But what was easy to tell was that the service wasn't good. Thali serves a dinner with different foods in half a dozen small bowls on your tray, along with rice and naan. They come by and refill any dish you wanted more of. At least that's how it used to work. This Friday, they took turns sitting with friends, talking on the phone, getting a drink - anything pretty much other than taking care of their diners. Finally, a woman from the staff came to our table with refills, apologizing that they had been pretty slammed (they most definitely had not). My wife asked for more of a dish that had tofu and potatoes. She still had potatoes in her bowl, and as the waitress dished out more, my wife told her she really just wanted more tofu. The waitress acknowledged this - and then did something that would get you fired from nearly any restaurant in the world - she dished the potatoes out of my wife's bowl and put them back in the serving container. That's right, she put food from my wife's bowl back into the food she would then serve to other customers. That could, and should, get you shut down by the health department. We were in disbelief that Thali's staff could be so poorly trained as to violate that basic rule of foodservice. We can no longer recommend Thali after this experience. We certainly...
Read moreI was on a business trip in Reno Nevada and found this Indian pure vegetarian restaurant in Downtown. I was craving for some Indian food and the Manager Sunny greeted me and offered the lunch special. I ordered the combination south Indian thali. It came with idly's, 2 masala dosa, Sambar, Ginger and Coconut Chutneys. The food was amazing. The Idly was so soft and it just melted in my mouth. Sambhar was authentic like south india with veggies. Masala Dosas were made with pure ghee and the potatoes masala was on point. I would highly recommend this place for southindian breakfast and lunch. Cheff Aman was leading the kitchen and the taste was really amazing. Place was neat and clean. To end my meal I ordered the traditional Indian Masala tea which was amazing reminded me the karak chai in Delhi. All together I would rate 5 out of 5 stars for this Gem in Reno. I will come again to try the Unlimited vegetarian thali for dinner tonite. Thanks once again for serving the community with fresh authentic...

We gave Thali Indian Restaurant a try and were extremely pleased and satisfied!
The Thali dinner plate was phenomenal with some of the best tasting Indian food I have had in a while. So flavorful and well balanced! The Coconut dessert was so delectable, as well as the vegan coconut creamed yogurt. The tomato chutney is some of the best that I have tried in the states so far. Just WOW.
The entire restaurant is 100% Vegetarian, and can accommodate vegans on nearly every dish, 0% unhealthy animal carcasses or biproduct being sold for human consumption which is SO hard to come by these days. I am forever grateful for Thali Indian restaurant for serving up delicious vegan food for us tonight.
A good meal, with good intentions.
Thank-you Thali of Reno!
