Overall a solid experience at Brotherton. Austin Copeland was great, and I'll go into details later in this review.
I had been preparing to custom order a 2024 Canyon but was dreading the dealership process. Having previously worked as a lot attendant for another dealership, I was hoping none of the typical tactics would be pulled during the sale, and also had a very good idea of what I did, and did not want, on the truck.
I did a fair amount of research on local GM dealers dealers before settling on Brotherton. I had even considered an out-of-state purchase with shipping to avoid the hassle of visiting a dealer and going through the ropes. However, I still wanted to test drive a new Canyon before pulling the trigger, and after reading countless reviews and many searches on Dealer rater, Brotherton looked like a good place to start.
During my initial research, Austin caught my eye as someone I'd like to work with, but at the time I was pretty set on out-of-state ordering, so I figured I'd send it with whoever for the test drive since it would be just that, a test drive. I filled out the general contact form on Brotherton's website, and as luck had it, Austin was the one that responded!
None of the GM dealers within 1000 miles had a Canyon built exactly how I wanted, so I let Austin know the few packages/items I at least wanted available for a test drive unit, and they had one that fit the bill. We set up an appointment for a Saturday Morning test drive, and all was good.
We arrived that morning, walked in the front door, and Austin was manning the front desk there to greet us. He had the Canyon we'd be taking on the test drive parked right in front of the dealership, and even had it "pre heated" if you will. We hopped in, he explained our route, and off we went. The route was a nice mix of a highway driving and back roads. Austin had some good questions ready for us, and answered any that we had as well. He also did a great job explaining some features of the truck as we went.
We returned to the dealer, all of us with a pretty good idea of what I was looking for build wise. I was still torn between 2-3 colors however, so Austin took us across the street and showed us all of the Canyon's they currently had in-stock. There were a few trucks with the packages I wanted, but missing a few single items here and there (some had a sunroof which I didn't want, were a color I wasn't interested in, or had the larger 20" wheels which I also wanted to avoid). Of course they would have loved to sell me a truck that day, but once I told Austin how set I was on custom ordering a rig exactly how I wanted, he was totally on-board and didn't push any of their current stock on me.
At this point everything had gone so well I didn't see an issue with rolling the dice and just ordering a rig through Brotherton, so that's what we did.
Austin took us inside, coffee and water were both offered. We sat down in Austin's office and began building a new Canyon on the GMC Website, basically the same as you would at home. I pointed out the options I wanted, and he answered any questions about them. He even pointed out certain items that may not be worth it, which was a nice gesture.
Austin estimated about 4 to 4.5 months from order to delivery, and even showed me how their allocation process worked as I was curious. Once the build looked good, I signed a refundable $1,000 deposit for the custom order.
The following Monday Austin sent an order confirmation and all looked good, so the waiting game began. It took 3.5 months until GM accepted the order and built the truck. Production to delivery only took about 3 weeks.
When the truck arrived, Austin sent me pictures and we scheduled a day and time for pick up. When we arrived at the dealer, we took the truck for a drive before settling down for paperwork. The process with Austin was easy, and the Finance office with Brandee was only a minor speedbump. Wish I could write more, but I'm at the character limit for Google.

Read moreMy wife and I have been casually looking for a road trip vehicle and came across a certified pre-owned Yukon XL Denali at Brotherton GMC in Renton. Not being familiar with this dealer, I looked at reviews and saw that Jason Liu had several positive reviews. I called the dealer, asked for Jason, spoke to Jason, and asked Him if the vehicle was available. He told me someone had taken it for a test drive earlier in the day, so heâd check if it was still available and call me back.
About 40 minutes later Jason called back. He apologized for the delay, told me someone had been looking at the vehicle, but they had left without making a purchase. I asked a few questions about the vehicle and told him my wife and I would be driving up from Sumner. I asked him if he would be available in about 30-45 minutes (depending on traffic) and he told me he would be. He stressed that we needed to come as soon as possible because he wasnât sure if the other customer would return before we arrived (a common tactic, but whatever, we were interested in the vehicle). He assured me the other customer was gone and the vehicle was available, so I assured him we were on the way. When we hung up, he immediately sent me a photo of his business card - attached below.
We arrived at the dealer about 40 minutes later, walked in, and met Jason. He immediately asked us to wait in his office so he could check if his colleague was still showing the vehicle. This was odd since he told us the other interested party had left, but we waited.
After a few minutes Jason returned to his office and told us the other customer was in the process of working out a deal with his colleague. He offered to âshowâ us the vehicle in case the other deal fell through. I declined and asked him why he told me the other customer had left when they were still there. He didnât have an answer, he only said âsorryâ.
We explained that he had completely wasted our time as he knew we were coming from Sumner. As we got up to walk out, and he apologized again and asked us to wait to see if the other deal fell. I told him no. He followed us out and asked if he could call me if the other deal fell through, I said no and we left. He then immediately called me, but I did not answer.
We drove to the dealership with every intention to buy the vehicle so long as it was as advertised (condition etc). I do not know about the other salespeople, but Jason is obviously a dishonest salesperson and I would caution anyone from doing business with him. The fact that Brotherton allows their salespeople to employ these tactics just to get someone in the door should be a red flag to anyone looking to do business with this...
Read moreI choose to go with Dennis service because he was very patient and understanding was not to pushy and gave me information as well as options to look at. The guy that I first talked to last month before coming back in this month wasnât as patient with me as Dennis was which is why I chose not to go back to his service. I appreciate the other guy helping me last month with the white car but your service wasnât working for me. He were to pushy and he didnât listen to my needs and what I wanted. he just wanted to fast track the process and hurry up and sell me a car which me and my partner did not appreciate mainly because it was my first time buying a car. You did not make me feel comfortable or secure with going through on a deal with him. As to me telling you I was just browsing and wasnât going to buying anything that day you still awkwardly forced us in to his office where my name was already on some paper work after repeatedly telling you that I was not purchasing. Although he sent me a blue car that was not what I was interested in. I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt but when I was ready to make a purchase you were not available and willing to help. So I still stopped by anyway because while at ford next door I seen black cars. As I was looking another dealer came out to show me a different car and was very welcoming as to why i chose to stay with him (Dennis) u see his service rather than come back to tranceâs service due to the fact that Dennis was very patient, understanding, and most importantly what you failed to do was he actually listened to what I wanted in a car and what fit me. He showed me 3 different cars and we discussed all of them based off my needs you on the other hand just heard me say I liked this car and was already getting things ready for me to sign and me personally never said out my mouth that at the time I wanted or was ready to buy that car during that process I was still looking h for other cars at other dealers. I just feel he were trying to rush me into a process I repeatedly told you i wasnât ready for. And then when I was at the lot and was talking to Dennis you couldnât not understand why me the CLIENT wanted to be service honestly and understand someone else service who could do that and accommodate my needs as client. trance was very nice but he did not showing me the qualityâs of a trustworthy seller so I got scared and when he werenât available I chose to go with someone else who was showing those qualities, who gave me different options, opinions, and most importantly...
