Having done around 50 rooms both nationally and internationally, King Tut's Tomb ranks as one of the worst I have ever played. I often play rooms with the same group of friends and the start of the room was unanimously agreed upon to be the most awkward start imaginable. We had secondhand embarrassment for the owner as he attempted to help us with the puzzle, which did not even work. Before entering the actual room I was already contemplating leaving, which in hindsight, I should have done as the rest of the room left much to be desired. The room had no light source so, naturally, figured we would have to find a flashlight or lantern. Nope, we had to use our phones. Never have I played an escape room that required items not provided in the room to be used. At no point prior to entering the room were we told we could or should use our phones in the room. I am unsure what I would have used for light if I did not have my phone or if my phone had low battery life. Also on Unraveled's website under the FAQ section "What should we bring with us?" it states "Bring only your friends and mad puzzle solving skills! Personal items including purses and phones are allowed in the room, and we provide you with a secured place to store your items in the room." This clearly implies you do not need anything besides your brain and friends, which obviously is not the case. Once we could finally see using our phones, the production value was quite awful. At no point did I feel transported or immersed in the theme. One of the first things we unlocked revealed a tip jar which totally took me out of the experience. At another point there was quite literally a lit sign advertising that they had another room coming soon. Promoting within a room as you're playing is distracting and kills immersion. The finishings were very poor and rough. My team often got snagged or scrapped on jagged edges. Nothing in the room felt authentic in anyway. There was one major part of the room that truly felt unsafe if there was an emergency, such as a fire, as there was no quick way to exit and you could very easily become disoriented and trapped. Individuals with any type of physical mobility concerns would most likely have difficulty navigating this part of the room. Upon completing the room the owner brought us back into the room to show us things we had missed that were "cool" and he wanted us to see. It was odd that these "cool" things did not need to be completed to successfully escape. With that being said, those things were not actually very cool and just wasted more of the time I wish I could just get back. When all was said and done, no puzzle was memorable or creative. It was almost as though the room creators had never even played other escape rooms before. We were excited because we had never played a 90-minute long room before but we could not wait to just be done. Although my team enjoys escaping, and we successfully did, we would prefer to have a great experience but not escape as long as the room was challenging, unique, well-thought-out and immersive. It's also a shame the rooms are public as I have never met someone who enjoys playing escape rooms with strangers. Overall, would not recommend this experience to anyone as you could literally go to any other escape room and have a better time. If this was my first time doing an escape room I would never understand the hype or go to anther one because it was a waste of time and money. Luckily I have many experiences to know how fun and exciting escape rooms are and I will continue having fun escaping in every city I visit, just never at Unraveled again. Unfortunately they make escape rooms look like overpriced, disappointing experiences and need to up their game drastically if they want to continue the apparent success they have had based on previous ratings. It baffles me to see that many negative reviews are met with responses from the owner stating "fake account" or with statements that are condescending. I assure you this is not a fake account, just a very...
Read moreI truly wish I could give less than one star. I have done multiple escape rooms before and I always escape, but this escape room was a joke. My dad reserved 4 tickets and a few days later my sister called and reserved her tickets to join our group and they asked if she wanted to charge it to my dads card. Im sorry, what? Our appointment was at 12. We arrived 10 minutes early and the front door was blocked with tools because they aren't finished building the place. Nobody was there to greet us. 15 minutes later, the owners come out and tell us to hang tight. Finally at 12:20 we get started after using the filthy bathroom. The owner helped us with the initial starting point and he was anything but patient. Very rude. We get inside and the door had a wooden lock that the owner put together incorrectly. He was annoyed that he had to come in with his drill and redo it so that it opened correctly. We get inside and it is extremely hot with poor ventilation. We all had to drain our phone batteries for light because it was pitch black in there. I'm not sure why they didn't offer flashlights. The walls were made of plywood and the edges were rough and I did get cut up a bit. If you want to do the king tut room, better study up. You will not get out if you haven't studied. It was mostly riddles and facts. Most escape rooms have hidden objects. There weren't much here, like I said, mostly riddles. If you like that, you'll love this room. The girl that helped us over the speaker was wonderful. But the other owner treated us as though we were stupid. That is evident from his replies to the negative reviews. In my opinion they need to finish the place before being open to the public and clean it up. I will never go back here. This didn't seem professional at all and I don't know how they have so many positive reviews. Perhaps they paid for them. EDIT I'm so glad you responded! Your "rebuttals" are nothing more than catty, unprofessional, dodgy responses to genuine constructive criticism, which clearly you have a hard time with. Asking if someone wants to charge $100.00 to another person's personal credit/debit card isn't okay and violates several laws. Surely you know that owning a business. Your entrance was unkempt and messy, we did trip over cords and pieces of tool equipment. It's alright, I recorded that. When we entered, NOBODY was there and I also have video footage of that. I recorded the entire thing. I'm going to suggest you implement a no phones policy and splurge on some oh so expensive flashlights. Surely you can swing that since you are charging $50.00 a pop. This is hands down, the most expensive escape room we've seen yet. Ryan was, in fact, incredibly rude and pompous, and only sat there and helped us get into the initial door because your buttons were janky and malfunctioning like crazy. Nobody would get in without guidance. I also have on video the man made wooden lock malfunctioning, as well as Ryan stomping in annoyed and using his drill to fix it...he admitted he put it together wrong...argue amongst yourselves about that if you want. Can't argue video footage though, so I will not be called a liar. I think your other reviews came from a time when you had a well-oiled place and now you're moving and you've opened to the public too soon. I have been to roughly 15 escape rooms across the nation and yours is by far the most expensive. Do you think anyone cares about dance or football? No. We didn't pay to suffocate in heat with malfunctioning b.s. We payed for a GOOD escape room. Nobody leaves a response as long as yours if they know they're right. I think maybe it's time yall have an...
Read moreI am an escape room fanatic having done about 40 rooms and I would recommend unraveled escape room. My friends and I are especially interested in scary/spooky rooms and this is the perfect place if you want that kind of experience. We drove out about 2 hours to this place and booked all 3 rooms. We made two out of three escape rooms with four people. The owner had said he was very impressed as their escape rooms are a little more difficult than most.
Alcatraz reminded me a lot of other Prison Break styled rooms. We started off in handcuffs and made it through quite quickly although the puzzles started getting harder and harder and time was running out quick. There was a really simple puzzle that took us a long time but that puzzle was the one to get us out of the room and thankfully we made it.
Asylum is definitely a spooky room. You enter with nothing more than a couple candles and the whole 1 hour experience is in the dark. This room felt never ending with puzzles back to back. There is just so much information to take in and use. This room also had a very difficult puzzle in the end that we had to solve to get out but thankfully we also completed that in time. I would say this room was my favorite just because it was in the dark and the puzzles were not too overly complicated even though there was a lot of them.
CSI was the most difficult room. It was described as a good mix of asylum and Alcatraz. The puzzles in this room are definitely more advanced. I would not recommend this room for a group of four, you definitely need a lot of people to work on different things at once. This room by far is the scariest escape room I have ever done. I can't spoil it too much but if you need a good scare and laugh I would definitely recommend this one. We needed a lot of help in this room but nonetheless still had a lot of fun. Although we didn't manage to escape within the 60 minutes the owner was extremely nice and allowed us to finish the room. We finished 10 minutes overtime but there was so much to this room that we missed. So if you ever go always remember to check every inch of every room.
This place is great, I can't wait for them to come out with more rooms. If you ever go, you need to suit up, get your thinking caps on, be prepared to scream, crawl, jump, shout, and laugh. It was a blast!
ALSO, WE DIDNT TAKE A PICTURE! I...
