Crunch Fitness - Rocklin — Attraction in Rocklin

I spent the last month going to six different gyms in the Roseville/Rockland area. Here are my unbiased reviews of them all.

1- Crunch- started here and signed up but ultimately, wanting to leave here after 3 weeks led me on my search for a better gym. It had all of the equipment I wanted, including several benches and squat stations however, the gym was filled with younger kids, and I often found myself waiting for machines. I learned more about TikTok and saw more TikTok’s filmed here while I was trying to work out than I would have liked. The gym is okay itself however it was the obnoxious teenagers who led me to leave.

2- lifetime fitness- for 208 or 218 a month, the inside of the facility is nice. The people are definitely in their own zone and not interested in talking or making friends. Has all of the equipment you need but don’t think about getting started here. Not friendly vibes. Probably better for a more established person who is settled within their own gym routine and would utilize the pool/ courts etc

3- Villa sport- pretty high price as well, good if you have kids who will use the pool. Gym equipment limited but clean and quiet atmosphere

4- California fitness Roseville- 80ish a month. extremely large gym- not busy- has all of the machines you need however I couldn’t get past the fact that the Capet and neon lights on the ceilings that made it look like it was stuck in the 70s. This place is definitely 20+ years overdue for a remodel

5- California fitness Rocklin- has the machines you need. People are decently friendly. After coming for a week I couldn’t get past the uncleanliness, otherwise I would have stayed here. A lot of the machines were covered in dust and filth as if they legitimately hadn’t been cleaned in years

6- planet fitness- $10- I always looked down on PF and thought it had a bad rep. This was my last choice but I signed here yesterday and can’t believe I didn’t sign sooner. The gym is impeccably clean. Open 24 hours!!!!! The lowest price of them all. And has all of the machines you need. The free weight section is a little small and they don’t have benches for chest. After coming here for two days, I am a big fan of their mission that is posted everywhere, no string tank tops, no grunting, and dropping your weights and no being a jerk. They try to make this an inclusive place for anyone looking to join a gym.

1 start is an overstatement. This gym needs a total overhaul with all employees. I was in on Thursday, 3 of us and talked to 2 reps. They gave us a rundown and we expressed interest in 3 memberships. I asked if they offer a few days free trial to make sure I was happy with their amenities. I was told first 5 days are hassle free and I could cancel with no fees, on top of that I was told I would not be charged until the following month, we went ahead and enrolled. 2 days later I was charged the 3 memberships, plus 3 enrollment fees, plus 3 prorated annual fees, none of which were mentioned in the gym. I called and spoke to Dominique, she is hands down the epitome of worst customer service. She said " those are fees we charge and the no payments until next month was a promotion no longer available". I expressed the fact that was not the info that was given to us last week, and she again said well those are our fees, in a very rude tone. I told her I would be calling corp. to complain and asked her name, and she literally said " I'm not yelling you" I told her, I am a Customer and I am asking for her name as an employee of this establishment! Her words " oh my god" here we go and took a deep breath. I told her, " there's no need for the deep breaths, im simply asking for her name to call corporate, and again she said I'm not giving it to you. I than said if she was not going to give her I would need to record the conversation and hope corporate would recognize her voice. After a long pause she finally said her name, Dominique. I called the next business day to speak to J.C the GM. I was not even done with the conversation before he rudely interrupted and said " everything Dominique told you stands" no listening to an explanation, no hearing out the customer, no apology for his employees childish behavior. That was followed by " so do you want to cancel or what". I told him I would most definitely want to cancel, we refuse to work with childish, immature non professional people. That apparently caught his attention since he instantly threatened to hang up if I was going to continue to talk to him that way. Apparently they feel they can be rude but get instantly offended if you bring up to their attention how...

To be honest I wouldn’t even give this place half a star after today. Ive been going here for a few years now and know all the locals and employees who are very kind in this gym, Today I was super-setting my chest workout and was outta breath and took my mask off because it was covered in sweat not allowing me to breath. On my way to rerack my weights and wipe down the machine JC almost runs me Over and starts telling me to put on my mask even though majority of the people inside were not wearing there’s. I was there Wednesday night and not a signal employee said a word to me about wearing my mask during my lifts. I told him I have trouble breathing while working out and I will wear it while I’m not lifting weights or moving stations. This gentleman starts getting hostile, getting too close and personal threatening me with cancelling my membership. At that point I agreed because I wasn’t going to tolerate being treated in such a manner after agreeing to leave. I’m packing my things JC continues to hover over me squaring up as if he was ready to start a fight. I told him to maintain his distance especially since he’s requiring me to wear my mask and follow protocol. As soon as I told him to keep away from me he demanded that I gave him my scan card and and cussed me out the door. “Get the F* out of here you D**”. ummm ok JC I’m already walking out the door thanks for the reminder. JC did not provide me with any cancellation paper work and demanded me to leave. I will gladly take my business elsewhere. The funniest part is JC is always sitting in the corner of his office on his phone watching videos while the rest of the team is hard at work. Who also complain about the way JC runs this gym. I see him every Tim in his little nest when I walk in through the door and I’m there 6days a week. This is the first time I’ve seen this man get to his feet and it’s to harass me.
