If you’re looking for the perfect blend of scenic beauty, family fun, and vibrant entertainment, The Harbor Rockwall is a must-visit destination! Nestled along the picturesque shores of Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall, Texas, this shopping and entertainment venue offers a uniquely delightful experience that will enchant visitors of all ages.
One of the standout features of The Harbor Rockwall is its breathtaking lakefront views. The recently enhanced greenscaping complements the stunning lake scenery, providing a refreshing and picturesque backdrop for any outing. As you stroll along the promenade, you’ll be greeted by panoramic vistas and vibrant sunsets that add a magical touch to your visit.
The variety of dining options is impressive and caters to diverse tastes. From the rich flavors of Giovanni and Gloria’s Latin Cuisine to the delightful treats at Cold Stone Creamery, there’s something for everyone. For a casual bite, Huckabee’s Coffee and Rodeo Goat are perfect choices, while Dodie’s Cajun Diner and Yuzu Japanese Restaurant & Bar offer more elaborate dining experiences. Each restaurant is thoughtfully situated to maximize the enjoyment of the stunning lake views.
Entertainment is another highlight at The Harbor. The Cinemark movie theater is a great spot for catching the latest films, while the lively outdoor atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The area is often alive with local performers and vibrant activities. On my last visit, I witnessed a teenager playing electric guitar as the sun set, creating an unforgettable ambiance with the accompanying water fountains and playful children.
Families will especially appreciate the range of amenities designed with them in mind. The splash pad and fountains provide endless fun for kids, and the picnic areas are ideal for a relaxed family meal. The spacious, green surroundings also make it a fantastic location for a late-night walk or a leisurely afternoon. I recall a heartwarming scene of kids joyfully splashing in the pond, their laughter echoing as their parents watched on, making it a truly memorable experience.
Although the Harbor is a phenomenal destination, improved pedestrian access and walking paths would enhance the overall experience. The current parking setup, while adequate, requires a bit of extra effort to navigate.

Read moreA total missed opportunity. Great location, beautiful scenery and lakeside setting in a safe, upscale suburb. And yet, the only draws to this place are the views. Gloria's, Dodie's, Cinemark, and the ice cream shop are nice, but you can find those elsewhere. Prime retail and restaurant space has been sitting empty and vacant for over ten years since this place opened.
I used to drive from North Dallas and Plano regularly to visit looking for new changes, but that stopped years ago as its stayed the same. They are doing summer events once a week, which bring loads of families with lots of small kids running around everywhere. Walking around is pointless as, again, there is no shops or anything to see or do besides the lake views. And there's no bar or restaurant patio with clear views of the lake, which is ridiculous.
On the good side, it is well patrolled by Rockwall PD. It's very clean, very quiet and safe. Flip side, parking is can be awful on the weekends. Not enough spaces and no parking garage being built either. A nice stop if you live in the Rockwall area, but otherwise, not worth the drive or hassle regardless of how pretty the views as there is nothing else to see or do here.
Whoever manages or owns this property needs to hand it over to someone else with some vision, drive and ambition to give this place its full potential as a major tourism draw for the Dallas area. We would drive from Plano regularly if we could have dinner with a lake view and then enjoy cocktails and music at a bar on a patio watching the sunset over the lake. There's not even a coffee shop with a...
Read moreToday while in Rockwall I went to the sideways BBQ. I quite enjoyed it. It's down by the lakefront next door to Dodie's Cajun grill. And on the other side is the bar something sale. I had the smoked brisket pinwheel. A side of potato salad bacon ranch potato salad. By the pictures I have posted you can say it's a really nice place a large bar 6 TV sets 17 tables and outside seating for when the weather's warm. All in all I was quite pleased the portion was large enough to fill me the change was very good not too sweet not too sour the meal was quite delicious it's not your grandfather's BBQ mind you. It has a new flare the pinwheel which was bacon. It consisted of chopped BBQ bacon maybe cream cheese I couldn't quite tell but it was quite good flavorful. I use the spicy BBQ sauce in that was really good. Any side bacon ranch potato salad. Great flavor friendly people nice and clean inside if you were sitting out on the patio you could see the water fountains where the kids splash area is in the lighthouse Dodie's is on its left side in into the sale or whatever it is is on the right side if you happen to go in a Rockwall do the movies and watch some good barbecue definitely go the sideways BBQ sincerely...
