We booked it for my wife’s birthday. I know I didn’t want the regular hop on/ hop off trolley tour of all the historic spots. That’s what made this experience different.
It’s off of George St. just south of the Plaza. It was a pink fancy golf cart, which is a selling point for them because it does stand out in the midst of other tours. We were greeted by Jenna and Brenden. Jenna mainly did the driving and the logistics of the actual trip while Brenden was the tour guide and the nonstop comedy show throughout. The ying-yang dynamic works wonders for this couple.
We went to four different stops and each spot came with a charcuterie board and wine. It was an awesome experience with nonstop laughs and a different view of the city with hidden gems that I can almost guarantee you wouldn’t find with the trolley tour.
They have a solid website that let me book everything. I found them on Groupon and they respected my voucher and made the checkout process seamless. I was then greeted by email, text, and a phone call. Very thorough and friendly throughout.
My wife and I are black so there weren’t that many other black people there in St. Augustine but I only bring that up to say that Brenden’s sense of humor can make anyone laugh! He’s next level and nonstop with the jokes so you have to keep up. They made us feel welcomed and I love the fact that he’s bilingual with English and Spanish. Jenna was so gracious and a much better driver than she gives herself credit for. Great people through and through.
I’m not the review writing type but I wanted to make sure that I sat down and took my time to explain this whole experience because we were both that impressed by it. I’ll be in St. Augustine for another 2 days but I already know that this was the highlight of the experience.
10 out of 10 experience.
Tips: —come on time and they do have free parking if you come by car
—come with an empty stomach or a light breakfast. The charcuterie boards and the wine pairings take up space quick
—you have a chance to buy something at all the vendors they take you to. Take advantage of that
—tip Jenna and Brenden in the middle of the trip, not the end. My only regret is that I didn’t get to tip them before I left because when they dropped us off, there was traffic behind them so that had to hurry up and go
You won’t regret it! Have fun and take in the city a...
Read moreFollowing up on feedback by Gary and response from Owner. As was stated, we received the first 2 stops which were enjoyable, but we DID NOT order Sangria or the food at the Mexican restaurant. There was no option for wine tasting which is why we did this tour. And who would go to a Mexican restaurant for wine tasting? The only reason we received the awful flan (far from the decadent dessert and the dessert wine we were promised) was because we asked about the dessert. And why was it in a to-go container? We also never saw the "relaxed picturesque setting" they promise. Response from the owner should have been a simple apology for the inadequate performance. Instead she attacked. See below for what Serendipity's website promises and look at Gary's review. You will see the discrepancies.
"Your Final Stops… Oh, there will be one surprise relaxed picturesque setting that awaits you. But we can’t tell you now, or it wouldn’t be a surprise. Hint picture directly below ;)
But the luxury doesn't end there. We've saved the best for last – whether it‘s a romantic setting or sharing close friendships, a dessert wine pairing is waiting for you. Indulge in the velvety smoothness of a specially selected dessert wine, perfectly complemented by either the rich and creamy flavors of an exquisite cheesecake stop or the perfect distinctive chocolate stop. This final stop will be a sweet ending to an enchanting evening, leaving you with memories to cherish."
Does this description sound like what we received? I am even more disappointed now after the owners response than...
Read moreUnfortunately, this was not what we expected based on the advertisement on Groupon and Serendipity's website. The ad on Groupon said 4-5 stops for wine tasting and pairings. The website identifies at least 4 stops with the last one being a dessert wine and dessert pairing. Our driver was very enjoyable and knowledgeable about the area. Our first two stops were as described and we enjoyed the wine/art gallery and the wine/charcuterie/store stop. But then we were taken to a Mexican restaurant where we were given Sangria (neither of us like Sangria and it's definitely not wine tasting) and a taco each with some fried corn tortillas and queso. When we asked about dessert, we were given a very small sliver of flan in a to go container. We tasted the flan and it was awful. Hardly the decadent dessert and wine tasting experience we were promised. Also, only 3 stops, not the 4-5 advertised. We only had two real wine tasting stops and those were wonderful, but that's where it stopped. Very disappointed. Looks like something changed as I had read...
