I've been going to Silver for 10 years. This is the most action packed place to bring the kids! Whirlpool sponsored splash pad with BIG water guns every 15 mins, beach time at the Lake, playground on the beach 200 yards from shoreline, ride on indoor horse carousel about 500 yards from beach (mostly Fri, sat, sun, hours vary), and visit concessions or Silver Beach Pizza for mid-day lunch or snack. We set up camp on the beach and run around doing different activities. My tips: there is no shade, be prepared. All parking costs money or you'll just drive around aimlessly looking for open spots on residential streets (I buy the Silver Beach parking pass and highly recommend if you'll visit more than 2 times a year - pays for itself). If you go to Silver Beach Pizza on weekends, make a reservation or check-in early (long waits 2+ hours) and you need shoes and cover-ups for girls suits, boys are fine with beach shirt/shorts. Running water restrooms are available at beach with rinse off areas. Have fun, bring minnow fishing nets and challenge the family to catch a minnow for a group reward of ice cream at the concessions!! Bring boogie boards, and tons of sand toys!! Read moreWhat a lovely, clean, user- friendly place! Paying for parking stinks but I suppose they ARE using that money to keep the beach so lovely & clean. The carousel was such a wonderful and fun opportunity to experience. The splash pad on location is simple, save for the overhead jets, but a welcome relief on scorching days where you just need to escape the heat. We loved the proximity of the paved parking lot to the boardwalk & beach. The intermittent, shaded picnic areas were a godsend for our large group to camp under all day, at no cost to us. Their bathrooms were tidy & free of the regular litter you'd see at other public restrooms - & they didn't stink horribly! We didn't partake in but liked that they had concession stands right on the boardwalk that would make an all day endeavor for a regular family easily attainable.
Overall, a fantastic...

Silver Beach State Park is a big, wonderful beach. I have been coming here since I was a kid. The sand is white and soft. There are massive jungle gyms for kids to climb on, swing sets, and lots of concerts all summer. Party on the white sand beach and swim in the shallow waters. There are restrooms, picnic areas, and parking is close-by.
But see the photos below of sand dunes and amazing sunsets. They are actually from Tiscornia Park just 400 feet north on the other side of the channel. (You have to drive nearly 2 miles to get there.) Tiscornia Park has the same white sand but is the opposite of Silver Beach, small, and secluded.
If you want a great party beach and fun features for kids, Silver Beach is your beach. If you want a romantic dunes and sunsets, consider Tiscornia....
