Update: The owner reached out to me and made things right. I upped stars from 1 to now 3. Bought 6 bags of caramel corn for gifts. Took home. One bag was for my family so we opened it that night. It was terrible, beyond normal stale. Decided I couldn't give as gifts. The next day returned to the location and asked for a refund. The young man who was at the counter was defensive agressive from the get-go. He said it was "impossible" that the caramel corn could be stale and said I was "insulting" his product. I asked if he could tell me how old it was because there was no expiration date on the popcorn. said that only corporate could tell how old it was. (just lot numbers on the bags)He was BEYOND rude. He said I couldn't get a refund because it was over 24 hrs. (Barely over. I purchased at 4:29 Monday, returned around 5 Tuesday) I insisted on a refund. So he went back and called a manager (no mgr. or shift lead there) He came back and took my phone number. Mgr called me on my way home and she also said it was "impossible" that it could be stale. But admitted it might not have been rotated properly. Said to come back Wed. for refund. Wed. come in and there was a nice shift lead there who immediately gave me a refund, said the Butter Rum flavor had probably been on the shelves since before summer and actually apologized. She said she hated that the packaging doesn't have dates on them. If I had her the first day, I probably would have just exchanged the products and been happy. But because this place is always filthy, and the young man was so rude, I will...
Read moreMy husband and I have been frequenting this establishment for a few years. We normally stop in every time we visit St. Joe. The prices are a little high, but that's to be expected since it's a bit of a "tourist trap".
Every other time we've gone, we've never had any problems. The atmosphere is quaint and the coffee is good.
However, on my most recent trip, I requested a banana (my 7 month old started solids recently, and I thought I would smoosh it up for him to eat. He loves eating with the family). I knew that they had bananas because there was a $7.00 fruit plate on the menu.
When I asked, the woman behind the counter gave me a condescending smirk and asked her "supervisor" how much bananas cost. The "supervisor" told her that she shouldn't sell me one.
I told her that I would pay for the entire fruit plate if she wanted. I offered to buy another item, such as a hot chocolate as well. She refused. She said they just "couldn't do it".
I still have NO idea why.
My feathers were a little ruffled, but I was extremely polite. I have been a barista, and I understand how ridiculous customer demands can be.
I sent my husband in to see if they would oblige his request. They did, but only after ignoring him standing at the counter for 10+ minutes.
Overall, I believe this is a good place to take your family for a sweet treat after the beach, but I'm completely appalled by the service. I wouldn't recommend if you don't have the patience for snarky, condescending high...
Read moreWe stopped here for lunch on a busy Saturday in July. I understand that it was busy, I don't understand the level of rudeness and how we waited more than 30 minutes for our sandwiches while the family ahead of us had their full order in less than 10 minutes. While we were waiting one of the staff, "Endless Fun Elaine," was the name on her tag, shouted over the customers across the store, hollering for one of the girls working the lunch counter to "get on a register!!" Another customer in line told me she was confused because in the middle of scooping her family's ice cream order, the worker was asked to stop what she was doing and make coffee! On top of all this, we were overcharged for our meal!!! When my husband went to ask for reimbursement, he was treated rudely and this "Elaine" said she didn't know how to do it. After doing some work on her register she said it was taken care of...when we got home, we reviewed our credit card statement and found we were charged TWICE for the same meal!!!!! I have eaten in this cafe one other time during a trip to St Joe and noticed the high stress attitude there. It seemed like the workers were overworked and short staffed. There was only one teenage girl in the kitchen preparing all of the lunch orders! I was really disappointed this time. Hire more people and take some customer...
