First, let me address my server, "Ray." I am from SALT LAKE CITY. I have never met Ray before. There is so much to say about him. There are a lot of good servers out there in the industry. Ray is very different, personal without invasive. Finding something that interested us, my mom being Greek ordering a Greek pizza, Ray tried to say "thank you" in greek. We corrected him. But the very fact he tried, connected us to him in an endearing way. His communication skills were easy, pleasantly instructive (even referring to the dual colored disc to notify the server of help as "fun".) He made suggestions without being dictatorial. I wanted a souvenir. He first told me about shirts, etc., then after dinner he took me to the rack. I gave my size and what i wanted. I returned to my table and he brought three items for me to look at my table. I purchased one. He actually brought the merch to the table. THAT was impressive. (Note, he asked me at the rack if i would allow him to do this). His personality remained high energy and consistent, yet not overbearing. I fould Ray to be the perfect example of proper service in this type of atmosphere. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to the owners of this establishment to do everyting they can to keep this man on staff OR use him as a service instructor.
Second, the food. I had a Greek pizza, Carousel, and Whirlpool along with a wedge blue cheese salad. The salad gave me ideas on serving the same from my home. The Greek pizza was full of flavor, thin, wafer like. Carousel and Whirlpool about the same multi ingredients like an extravaganza at Domino's, the Whirlpool having three more veggie ingredients. I changed it up a bit and took home a Whirlpool with extra sauce on the bottom of the toppings. Also, this take home was on cauliflower crust. The blue cheese on the salad was a bunch. I like it that way, but be warned it may be excessive for some. The pizzas were all outstanding. Universally, I must have extra sauce on my standard combination pizzas. This is the first pizza I loved it both ways. Being of retirement age I am getting digestively intolerant to pizza crust as the years go by; the cauliflower crust I never had before is now my first choice. Some may find it cracker like, but I...
Read moreWe got to SBP quite allot. However yesterday was the worst experience we have had there. We went upstairs to see if we could get seated since there was and hour and a half wait downstairs. The hostess told us that they were not accepting reservations upstairs for another hour and the tables were first come, first served. So we waited by the hostess station and went to a table as we saw a couple leave.
The hostess came to us and told us we could not have that table because she was holding it for someone else. She had just told us that there were no reservations yet. I guess she meant for most people, or maybe for us because she did reserve the table we were trying to sit at.
We went back to waiting after a somewhat heated exchange with her where she was rude to my wife. We sat at another table after a short wait. Our waiter came over after a while and took our order. He hardly said a word to us and never smiled. He did bring us our drinks right away. When our pizza came I noticed it was not as hot as normal. We usually need to be careful not to burn our mouths but this time it had obviously been sitting for a little while. It was still warm enough though and tasted great.
Our waiter checked in once but did not refill our drinks. When we were ready to get the check we Flipped over the puck to the red side and waited....and waited. Our waiter actually walked by and I saw him look down at the red puck and keep walking. My wife was able to get his attention on his next pass and we got the check and a box foe the leftovers.
All in all I think SBP is a great place. However, I do not feel compelled to come back anytime soon since I did not enjoy this visit. I feel that after the exchange with the hostess, she said something about us and we were treated poorly...
Read moreFood was great but they allow men to use the woman restroom! My teenage daughter went to the restroom with her friend and was waiting for a stall to open when she came running out of the bathroom and said there was a grown man in the woman’s bathroom. The waitress was at our table taking our order when my daughter came back to the table to tell us. Leaving her friend behind in the restroom she was so panicked. When I asked the waitress, “ you guys allow that here?” She stayed silent but seemed like she wasn’t going to check if there was a man in there or not. So I jumped up and proceeded to the restroom to check on my daughters friend that was left in the bathroom when the waitress said she would go and check. Our table was near the restroom and we heard the conversation. The man said he was confused so the waitress and him laughed it off together. The waitress never spoke to us about it other than to tell us he was confused. You mean to tell me a 50 year old man didn’t know when there was no urinals in the restroom that is wasn’t in the men’s restroom!! THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! The manager never came to speak with us. My daughter was traumatized seeing a 6ft something 300lb bearded man walk out of the stall she was waiting to go into. We will never returned to this hometown...
