Sunset Sail Cruise - Be careful on this one... I tried to take this cruise on two different occasions. The first time around our boat died during the cruise and we had to be towed back in by another boat (no refund or pass for another day was given). It ended up taking much longer then expected and we did not get to see a sunset. We decided to give this another shot on out most recent trip to Florida and had our second negative experience. There was a storm coming in and the captain decided to take us out when there was no chance of seeing a sunset. We waited 30 minutes for him to decide if we should leave, then we ended up getting rained on and he turned around because the storm was so bad. The captain suggested that we call the following morning to reschedule the cruise. We were actually flying out the next morning so he said that if we called in they would refund us for the unsuccessful trip. I called and left a message, heard nothing, then called back and talked to a new employee (Eric) who took a message and said the manager would call me back. I gave it a few more days and heard nothing. I called back a few times and finally got someone (Cindy) on the phone who was very rude. She said that she would have to ask her manager about issuing a refund because she was unable to do it. She asked the next time I would be back in Florida and when I said I was unsure (since it was a vacation) she was irritated. She really wouldn't let me talk and it seemed like she could care less about my negative experience. She said that she would check with her Manager and call me back. I never heard anything back from her.
I really liked the idea of the sunset cruise and I understand that things like weather, and a boat malfunctioning are out of control, but because of their poor customer service I will not go back. I would caution anyone wanting to take this cruise to be sure and check the weather and be sure you are around for a few days in case...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Dolphin Landings Sunset Cruise with Captain Randal and First Mate Steven, and it was an unforgettable evening. From the moment we stepped aboard, we were greeted with warm smiles and a friendly welcome, setting the tone for a delightful adventure on the water.
The boat was impeccably clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and safe environment for all passengers. Captain Randal demonstrated exceptional seamanship, skillfully navigating the waters while Steven shared interesting facts about the local marine life and landmarks. His passion for the ocean and its inhabitants was evident, adding an educational element to the cruise.
First Mate Steven was equally impressive, offering attentive service and engaging conversation throughout the journey. He ensured everyone had a drink in hand and was quick to answer any questions or share a laugh. His enthusiasm was contagious, making the experience even more enjoyable.
As we sailed into the sunset, the views were nothing short of breathtaking. The vivid colors reflecting off the water created a mesmerizing backdrop, perfect for capturing photos or simply soaking in the beauty.
The cruise was perfectly timed, allowing us to relax and take in the serene atmosphere as day turned to night. The return trip under the full moon and the twilight sky was peaceful and provided a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the highlights of the evening.
Overall, the Dolphin Landings Sunset Cruise with Randal and Steven exceeded my expectations in every way. Their professionalism, knowledge, and genuine hospitality made for a memorable outing that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to experience the magic of a sunset on the water. Whether you're a local like myself or a visitor, this cruise is a must-do for a perfect blend of relaxation...
Read moreFirst, let me tell you the captain of our sailboat was so nice. The sailboat was clean and obviously well maintained. We went on a 2 hour dolphin cruise, where they said it was 98% to see dolphins.
Pros.....great sailboat captain, went out of his way to follow the mama and baby dolphin we spotted. Let our son "pilot" the sailboat towards the dock. Had ice cold water and soda for the guests.
Cons.... When I called, she told us to book online. Apparently in addition to the cost of the cruise, there are online fees not disclosed, in addition to the taxes and fees they charge. So the $150 cruise (before tax) became $160 (before tax) plus the tips they ask for at the end of the cruise (I know you don't have to, but they make you feel like it's their only pay). Also, we have never been sailing, so we didn't realize there was absolutely no shade. So two hours in the blazing heat with no shelter. My daughter almost passed out. (the other cruises we all looked at offered shelter, we didn't realize this one didn't). And finally, the woman we spoke with to "book" told us they couldn't guarantee dolphins (of course) but that it was a 99% chance we would see them, and even if we didn't everyone always had a great time. Well, it was 2 hours of blazing heat, quietly sitting and holding on, with a few minutes of a few glimpses of dolphins. Those few minutes were the only fun portions of an otherwise trip to hades (seriously, the sun was that bad).
Please know none of the "cons" are related to the boat crew. They really were great. We just wish that more things were disclosed and upfront about by the company (in terms of what to expect). I don't think we would go back with them for this type of...
