The good reviews of this particular Uptown Cheapskate location are absolutely baffling. The manager girl is RUDE and I'm being polite using that terminology. They consistently waste our time when we come in. They don't thoroughly look at everything and pass up the highest quality, most up to date styles, most expensive at time of original purchase, best contemporary fashion brands, classic brands and styles of gently used, clean, ironed and neatly folded clothing. This indicates a complete lack of knowledge regarding modern fashion style, classic fashion style, quality of items, high end contemporary fashion brands and classic fashion brands, all of which were purchased at high end department stores and specialty boutiques. EVERYONE, including 'managers' need to begin extensive research regarding fashion and brands ASAP. The internet is a glorious thing full of valuable information that will benefit ALL of the people who work there if they take an hour of their day to research what's hot and what's not in the fashion world. What's amusing about this location is they reject the majority of our items except for craptastic mall brand clothing made in China for which they pay their equally craptastic lowest tier price.
After too many times of this nonsense, we decided to take our really nice clothing to the Downtown Uptown Cheapskate location where they were drooling over our clothing we brought in to sell. They purchased and continue to purchase almost EVERYTHING we bring in, EVERY TIME we come in and they pay us their highest tier price for our items because THEY KNOW ALL FACETS OF FASHION! Needless to say, they're our designated store where we sell our nice clothing.
I might be mistaken, but I recall being told that the Sugar House and Downtown Uptown Cheapskate stores are owned and operated by the Franchisor and not a Franchisee. If true, the inconsistencies between the two locations, from management, customer service and to the level of knowledge regarding fashion the employee's possess, is even more baffling. The Sugar House store needs to emulate the Downtown store in EVERY aspect!
Final note regarding Uptown Cheapskate in Sugar House. When they're finished 'glancing' at our items, they lack the courtesy of neatly folding them back up as they were upon receiving them. They just stuff everything back into the bins. Last time I asked them to fold everything back up the way they found it and they acted inconvenienced by my polite request.
To summarize, EVERYONE WORKING at the Sugar House Uptown Cheapskate store IS CLUELESS ABOUT FASHION, the 'manager' girl is rude and unprofessional and the employees are lazy and unprofessional. GO ELSEWHERE unless cheap clothing made in China...
Read moreI've been going to uptown in sugarhouse for about 5 years, and after this last visit I will probably never go again. I've sold thousands of dollars worth of clothing to this place and the employees have always been nice and I like it here it's very consistent, that being said this last time I went into sell I had items like Lululemon, gymshark, Tory Burch, Michael kors, Kate Spade, etc. And I was told the way it was going to be about 30 minutes and during that time I normally shop, well she called my name pretty quickly and the gal told me , And this is exactly what she said, " we're not going to buy any of your items today they're not things are stores looking for, You might want to check out the West valley location, it's more your demographic"
I said okay, as I was processing what she had said to me, making sure I heard it right and I was completely offended so before I left I go are you just to be clear none of these items you guys are looking for right now, And she said no not at this location but the West valley is always looking for different things that we carry like I said it's more your demographic, boom she said it twice so I knew I wasn't miss hearing her.
Now I'm Filipino American, lol, I do a blonde hair because I bleach it so I do look Caucasian most of the time so I was confused when she said more my demographic not assuming there's a certain demographic in West valley I don't know because I live in Central Salt Lake City, lol I was just amazed that she had said that to me I didn't go into further like what she meant by that because she was a young girl early twenties if that I'm sure what she meant and what she said we're probably two different things, but it could be an exactly what she meant I'm not sure I don't want to assume what others are thinking and that's just absurd.
But I am old school I'm 41 and to say that to me is offensive because your stereotyping me for one and two your stores filled with all the things I brought in to sell so the whole thing was not only confusing but just odd, to say the least I'm not sure if anyone else has had something like this happen there to them but you know just one employee can ruin the whole store's vibe and I told my friends what had happened and we're just not going to go into that location anymore and it's sad because we've been going...
Read moreRead moreBUYER/SELLER BEWARE!!! So heres what happened. I had a basket full of stuff that I wanted to try and sell to this store. I told my husband to take it in since I had to work, I had been shopping earlier that day at the Buckle and bought 2 pairs of Rock Revival and 2 Pairs of Miss Me jeans. For any of you that shop at the buckle and buy these jeans you know how much they cost. I spent around $600.00. He took my stuff in and came back and told me they gave him $60.00 for what they could take and then I asked how many things they took and he said about 20 but since hes a man and really didn't care to pay attention didn't know exactly what they took so I went out to get the basket and look. Some clothes were missing......along with my Buckle bag, I asked where my bag was and he said he thought that was part of what I was selling and took it in to them......WTF you sold my 4 pairs of brand new jeans still with the tags on them plus more of my clothes and came back to give me $60.00????? WOW I got around $12-$15.00 for brand new jeans that had $168.00 Price tag on them. They were very rude when I called and told them about the mistake and said they could not give them back to me since he had signed that he wanted to sell the items! So they gave me about $.60 cents for my Affliction, Rebel Spirit and Daytrip shirts and $12.00 for brand new $168.00 jeans. DO NOT SELL OR BUY FROM THIS STORE!!! Most of there store is old clothes from previous seasons that they buy from stores for super cheap and mark way up, they don't have very many cheap clothes so they probably shouldn't have CHEAP anywhere in their name. There is another store up the street that is a WAY bigger store, buys WAY more clothes from you, has WAY better customer service and pays you WAY more money for your clothes. Platos Closet
