Let's talk burgers. Every couple has their "thing", some of us don't have the funding necessary to go skydiving on the weekend, but burgers are in our price range. 😁 We've literally travelled the United State eating burgers a few times, including Waygu beef in Texas. Moving to SLC meant we had to find our new Go-To spot. Meet BGR Sugarhouse . BGR stands for Burgers Grilled Right. 😍 I love that it's not a sit down, tip your waiter place but is very modern and cozy. Be careful with your first bite, or else you'll be like me and drip juices all over the table.... 🙄 Featured is my favorite, the mushroom Swiss burger with the best tater tots I've ever had. We may go back tonight for an order of tots to go... But let's talk about their Mojo Sauce. Weird name right? It's non-alcoholic, don't worry. Take the quintessential Utah frysauce and kick it up a notch. There are not little bits of pickle in the Mojo sauce like In N Out, it's definitely not your mom's "Mix Mayo and Ketchup" sauce, it's on a different level than that. Seriously go try them next time you're in the Sugarhouse area. Be prepared for bits of dill in the Monjo sauce, it will change your life.

Visited for the first time a couple days ago. As first timers, we asked for suggestions and didn’t get as much direction as we’d hoped, but she at least told us her preference between 2 burgers we were considering. Burgers are made to order and they ask how well done you’d like it cooked which I appreciate. I got a Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger which was delicious! My husband got their featured burger, the Wellington, and was only mildly impressed. We shared a side of garlic fries which were excellent, and one side was plenty for us to share. As many others said, the burgers are a little pricey, but they are grilled over a flame instead of on a flat grill which makes the meat taste so much better! I only gave a 4 star, however, because it took 25 minutes to get our food after we ordered. I appreciate that the burgers are made to order, but that kind of wait is a bit too long for a burger joint and it wasn’t even a full restaurant at the time. Consequently, we had to rush eating because we only had a babysitter for so long.

I ordered the wagyu Wellington through Uber to have delivered to me at work. Honestly don’t know what I was given as after two bites I couldn’t finish. There was such an over abundance of blue cheese and “deep roasted mushrooms” that the sandwich was inedible. It looked as though someone ate a bunch of mushrooms and a day later used the bathroom in some raw hamburger. The patty itself besides being almost raw looked rubbery as if it had been thawed out just before putting it on the grill. Definitely not the “true luxury meat” that the menu described. It was topped off with the saddest piece of lettuce I’ve ever seen in my life. Thankfully I ordered the garlic fries so I had something to eat.. even those were cold but tasted good. Definitely wouldn’t waste my money on this burger again.

Stay away from BGR. They are a complete mess. They aren't answering phones, making curbside non-existent. Their kitchen is a complete wreck with too many people running around, yet nothing is getting done. Order was supposed to be 20 minutes. An hour later, still no food. There's a dozen people standing in the entryway all waiting for food that doesn't ever seem to come. Food looks to be sitting getting cold.

--- In response to owner's response - so that the public knows to stay away - the issue was not "the one new employee" or the BOGO. There were six employees, all doing a poor job. The woman at the fryer had food sitting in the fryer basket for 30 minutes, that never made it to an order. The man cooking burgers moved slower than a snail. The woman finishing burgers wasn't using the massive make-area, but slapping things together in her hands. The man was pointing at tickets, but not helping anything. The cashier wasn't answering phones, ever, not sure what she was doing. The kid who was bagging orders spent more time pulling things out of orders than putting things in. When we finally got our food, the order was 50% wrong - None of the items we ordered on the burgers were on there - no lettuce, no onions, no tomatoes, no pickles, no sauce, no anything that was ordered. The fries and tots were as stale as could be and barely filled half the cup. There were no napkins (in a togo order), and I didn't see any in the straws area (which was basically empty of everything). There was one table sitting eating food, while 6-8 people standing around waiting for to-go orders, it was not busy by any measure. At best, one order came out every 10 minutes, for a couple burgers and fries. We ordered for curbside pickup, during a pandemic, because of curbside specifically. I had no desire to go inside with a bunch of people standing in the entryway, but there was no other option as the phones were never answered. Once inside, I heard the phones ringing non-stop and no one bothered to answer, even when there were multiple kitchen crew standing around doing nothing. We ate here a couple years ago when they first opened and remarked how the food was good, but the kitchen crew could use some practice; it hasn't improved over the years. Sorry owner, this issue is not new and we will...

Edited: I originally gave this restaurant one star for the reasons listed below. The manager communicated well and made the situation right. Hopefully it was just an off night, And an adjustment to the influx of curbside orders restaurants are dealing with these days.

'll start by saying I tried to contact the store operator directly, but the contact form on the website did not let me submit my message, and no one answered the phone all night. I don't like to be the person that comes on to only leave negative reviews, but our experience was bad enough I thought someone should know.

I ordered food for my family tonight, our first time trying out your restaurant (drawn by good internet reviews, shout-outs from bloggers etc) and we were really really disappointed. First, our order wasn't ready for 30 min past the time given, which was tough with 2 kids in the car. My husband luckily checked the order when it was ready, because our daughter's sliders were not in the bag. When we got home to eat, we were not happy with the food at all. Both my burger and my husband's were very under cooked. We ordered medium and they were very red. I didn't end up finishing mine, my husband said if he hadn't been so hungry he wouldn't have either. The bacon on my burger was also undercooked. Our asparagus was over charred. We understand things get busy, mistakes happen, we have both worked in the industry (me formerly, my husband manages a Restaurant in the area). I'm not sure what the resolution is for us, at this point we wouldn't try your restaurant again. Maybe it was just an off night, we have no reference point. But now we both feel sick. It really put a damper on our...

Edited to add: After I wrote the critical review below, the manager of this BGR location contacted me and gave me extra rewards and a free delivery so that I would try their delivery service again. I successfully had an order delivered and the burgers were very good as always. I'm very happy to edit my review to reflect the fact that they made the problems we had right and we were very satisfied!

Old review: BGR is the better of the burger joints in the neighborhood, IMO, but unfortunately I've had terrible experiences ordering their food for delivery. The first time, I ordered directly through the BGR app. My order was canceled and reinstated three times over the course of the next hour and a half. In the end I had to drive to the shop to pick up the food, meaning that I paid premium delivery fees and tips for a meal that I fed to my children an hour and a half late and I actually had to pick it up anyway. The manager was supposed to get back to me about refunding me the cost of the tips and the fees, but he never did, despite the fact that I called the restaurant again A left a message asking him to call me back, wasting even more of my time. This past week I decided, foolishly, to try again, ordering through doordash instead. This time the order arrived in good time, but my son's burger was missing. It was easy to get a refund through doordash, but to feed my child I had to reorder his food, paying fees and tip for the same item a second time. I think you see a theme here. It's really a shame, because we have enjoyed their food, but I would definitely not recommend...
