The tea bar is best tea place in Utah. It’s at 1201 Wilmington AVE but we all know this place as Sugarhouse. There are several reasons that makes this tea place amazing. First, there are lots of menu selections you can choose from. They have 6 different types of teas and 20 different types of flavors so even if you are not used to Asian flavors you can choose very familiar flavors such as caramel, chocolate or fruit slush. For example, my brother in law who is not used to tea flavor always chooses caramel milk smoothie and he always love it! Also, they have Taiwanese snacks and Japanese snacks too! (I feel sorry that they don’t have Korean snacks) such as fried Wontong (Taiwanese style dumpling) and boiled Wontong. The second thing that makes it great is that, it is owned by Taiwanese so you can eat Boba tea almost as same as Taiwanese. My Taiwanese friend said their teas taste almost the same as when she ate in Taiwan. Their boba (Taiwanese traditional jelly that made with cassava which is called yam) is also very fresh and chewy when eaten with the tea. Additionally, there are lots of pretty Asian women customers so if you are interested in Asian woman I truly recommend this place. Final thing that makes it great is the food that you can consume in this place is very healthy, especially boba. The boba can help your digestion so even a baby can eat. And this jelly made with cassava so it has very low calories also it does not have any fat. Therefore, it is really good for losing weight. Unfortunately, this place has some faults that need to improve. First, this place is too narrow and always full of people so sometimes it’s hard to sit on their table and it makes people little uncomfortable cause they want to sit and relax. Since this place is not big enough to accept people often their waiting line is super long and they need to wait around 15minitues or even wait at outside but this case is very rare. Also, there is not enough parking around this area. Therefore, people have to park quite far from this place. It’s okay in summer but in winter they have to walk around 5 minutes after parking. Even though it has some disadvantages to fix, this place still is worth to go! If you really want to have a good experience with Asian culture this place is a great place to start with. Therefore, I want to rate them as 4.5stars but this review does not have half point so I give them...
Read moreSo, me and my friends came here today for a good boba tea. Everything went good until we got our order. Me and my friend ordered a orange boba tea and mango boba tea, like really simple order, you know. One of the drinks was orange color and tasted fair and the second one was bland and brown color. We went back and the server guy tried to convince us that we did not order orange one and that that drink in my hand is mango(it did not have a taste as mango or orange that i could’ve tell, but it tasted fair enough at least so i was happy with it). My friend left the brown drink with them because it was not what he ordered and was tasteless. After ,he tried to explain to them about the drink and they did not listen, he left because he is not the type of person who argues. They did not offer him refund or another drink, nothing. And yes,the brown drink was full,it’s not like he drank half of it and then went there and complain about it. After that i went there myself with my friends and tried to have a drink for my friend while the server guy had an attitude and did not want to admit his mistake. Everytime i said something,he replied something total different than the last time. At the end i asked them for refund again(it is not a lot of money, like 5 dollars and i told them that) , the lady that came to defend her co worker male server, accepted. I mean,i did not want those 5 dollars back but they did not want to make me another drink either ,so i just wanted the money then. My friend left them the DRINK and MONEY and i did not want to end like that. In short, don’t go there, find another place. People are just unprofessional and rude,no smile no compassion for the customers when is THEIR mistake. No words. I’ve never had such a bad experience with a new (to me) eating/drinking...
Read moreLove this place! I’ve been going for years. It’s right in the college town of the U so it’s a lot of young customers. Also busy on weekends and evenings as, again, it’s a younger crowd. I always go earlier in the day on a weekday and usually don’t wait long. If you go on a weekend/evening I’ve waited 30+ mins for one drink (they are upfront about how long the wait is when you’re ordering). Pros: Awesome tea! Best lavender milk tea I’ve found in Utah. Fabulous boba that is always chewy. Quick service when it’s NOT busy (avoid weekend afternoon and late evenings - usually their busiest). Staff can seem stand-off-ish, but I prefer it as I like how quick it is to order. Doesn’t bother me...seems to bother others though. I’d rather have a quick order than small talk. They ask you to verify your order before paying - they’ve NEVER gotten it wrong as I’ve always actually checked the screen. Love their punch card system. Ask for one when you go in. Cons: Sometimes it seems watered down - whenever I get good, perfectly made tea I tend to savor it. I’d say 2 maybe 3 out of 5 times I get a perfect tea. I’ve found it depends who is making it and the time of day I stop by. Their social media is nonexistent. I really wish they were better about this! For such a young crowd for a majority of their customers it’d be much nicer to have any change of hours or ordering procedures posted....and an updated menu would be nice. (Especially important at the beginning of COVID, but I ended up calling to get the info I needed. Not a huge deal, but would’ve been nice considering they have social media pages).
Overall, 4/5. Not perfect but could be - it has potential! I still visit 2+ times a week regardless...
