ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW....WOW...WOW. 5 STARS My wife and I were visiting La Jolla on vacation and almost walked past what turned out to be such an amazing breathtaking experience. Ian's art work is so vibrant and rich in color. Every piece brings out a different thought and emotion. I could see his pieces in various places of my home. Aside from viewing the art in different rooms....my experience with Niky was 5 stars. She greeted my wife and I as we entered. Prior to this experience I have not heard of Ian. But I will tell you based on the presentation Niky gave my wife and I, we honestly thought Niky was the actual artist and just using Ian as a face to the image or business. I say this with the utmost compliment to both Ian and Niky. Reason being was Niky explained each piece with such vigor, love and emotion...I thought to myself "she know's these pieces too well as if she created them". As Niky guided us through the various pieces my wife and I explained what we felt after seeing each one....she was able to expand upon our feelings and go in further depth as to when the photo was taken and Ian's reasoning behind it. Speechless....... I also give Ian 5 stars not only for his work but for also having such a dedicated person such as Niky that sold us. Her knowledge and genuine way about her further compliments the art in this gallery. As a business owner myself it's extremely important to have a team member/employee that believes in the product (in this case Niky believes 1,000%). She sells effortlessly because you can feel how much she admires Ian's art. You cannot sell what you don't truly believe in and have fun while doing it. Great...
Read moreLet me start this off by saying this gallery is gorgeous! I am a huge fan of Ian Ely. I first came across his work when I was living and working in Lafayette CA. I was at an Art & Wine Festival in Lafayette and was blown away by his photographs. I had never seen anything like them before in my life. Years later, I move back to San Diego and am ecstatic to find out that he has a gallery in La Jolla. I have been to a few of his unveiling events which have been so much fun. Seeing a gorgeous new photograph, exploring his gallery, enjoying live music, talking with Ian and his art consultants is a genuine pleasure.
I currently have two of his photographs in my home, Archean Arc and Salutation. I also purchase his beautiful calendar every year and give them out as Christmas gifts, while also keeping one for my household. I have his coffee table book as well and have given that out as gifts too.
His artwork is so stunning, the first time I saw Homage I was speechless at how beautiful it is. I was in a Cardiologists office last month and was taken aback (in an awesome way) by the huge framed Resurrection photograph they had on their wall. I was like "hey I know who that photographer is!" It was such a cool surprise.
His gallery is a must see in La Jolla. His art consultants are so professional and so knowledgeable about each photograph. I love hearing about the back story to each piece. I will continue to recommend this gallery to all and proudly display his...
Read moreYes it is a good gallery, but it appears as if the employees are trained to piss people off. A friend and I were browsing some of the pieces, just minding our own business commenting to ourselves, wondering if adobe light room could have been used to create a certain effect. We were soon rudely talked down to by an employee remarking how all the photos are pristine and no modifications have ever been done blah...blah. Photos and art can be viewed and criticized in anyway. There is nothing wrong in using light room or other software to adjust light shades to create photo art. If one has an attitude that squelches all or even the most minor criticism and can get so defensive about everything, then you are doing yourself and your art a great dis-service. I don't know much about this niche art scene, but if your job is to sell and/or court buyers the attitude we observed is exactly the wrong way to...
