Was walking on Prospect Street looking for someplace to pop into and ended up at We Olive & Wine Bar. You first walk into their cute storefront which had lots of goods on display for sale. Towards the back is their bar area and kitchen which leads to a patio overlooking views of the ocean. They had a decent amount of guests for a Wednesday mid-afternoon, but it was the day before the 4th of July so lots of people are vacationing and off from work. We sat outside on the lower patio.
The entire staff here is super friendly and welcoming. I believe our server's name was Victoria and she was fantastic. We got the cheese & charcuterie board which we absolutely loved. Each item was delicious and complemented the others on the plate well. The fresh bread served with our board came out hot straight from the oven and tasted incredible! They drizzle garlic olive oil and sprinkle coarse salt on top. I'd go back for the bread alone. I also got Edelzwicker orange wine which was a refreshing, fruity option without being overly sweet.
I recommend stopping in if you're...
Read moreWe visited every single day during our stay in La Jolla—and for good reason.
On our first visit, we enjoyed the beautiful sunset views while sipping on orange wine and sharing the artichoke flatbread and charcuterie board. It was the perfect way to kick off our trip.
We returned on our second night to purchase a bottle of wine to enjoy back at our hotel. The staff working the afternoons of August 3rd and 4th, 2025, were absolutely wonderful—friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their work. One even mentioned how much they love working there, which speaks volumes about the management and ownership.
While I do wish the stools had backs, the stunning beach view more than made up for it.
The team gave spot-on recommendations when we asked for a juicy, lightly tannic red wine—and even let us sample the wines before making a choice.

Read moreI can’t even rate wine or food because no one provided any service. I walked in to grab a glass of wine this afternoon on their seaside deck. The bar had a garland separating it from the olive oil part of the store, but there was someone behind the bar and there were quite a few people on the deck. After not being acknowledged I finally waved her down, and she acted annoyed and interrupted. I asked if I could come in and get a glass of wine and she asked if it was just myself (yes) and she told me to wait. She continued working behind the bar and then walked away and didn’t come back. As I turned to leave someone else working the olive oil section asked if anyone helped me, and I told her apparently there wasn’t interest in seating me. She simply said sorry and proceeded to help an olive oil customer. Wow, this place is in dire need of customer...
