Coffee shop with a large variety of breakfast items like pastries, breakfast burritos, yogurt and granola, shakshuka, and many more.
I Highly recommend the shakshuka. I came two days in a row in April, and ordered it both times. Keep in mind that shakshuka is not a quick dish to make, but it is well worth the wait. I make this at home, but Newbreak Coffee's version has feta and I think za'atar spices, which I've never thought of adding, but it works amazingly well. It's my new breakfast addiction when I visit San Diego again. The coffee? You have many types to choose from as well, but I went with the typical breakfast coffee, cappuccino. It was perfectly made.
The staff is very friendly and courteous. Not once did I notice the "I don't want to be here" face that I notice at many coffee shops. It must be the proximity to the beach with the San Diego sun that elevates the mood for the employees here.
The atmosphere is open and tables are arranged where everyone can see each other. As an introvert, I don't like to be in the middle of tables in open spaces, and it seems all the other introverts took all the good seats. This is by all means not a deal breaker for me, as I can just order to go and eat somewhere more private IF needed, but the atmosphere is still nice and relaxing.
I do plan on coming here again (as I visit San Diego every year), and trying out other dishes, but I honestly may just order the shakshuka again, since I have been craving it to this day.
I recommend you give this place a try! You have nothing to lose and maybe a new...
Read moreStopped by every morning while in San Diego for my 20 oz Vanilla Breve Latte and breakfast. Food, coffee, and service never disappointed. Ellie helped me on my first day. Later that afternoon when I returned for a caffeine fix, not only did she remember my name but my specific beverage order from the morning. Made me feel like a regular, which is why I decided to make it my morning go to (I didn’t need to pay for coffee or breakfast because I was able to make it myself in my van - even the vanilla breve latte). The next day when I stopped in, Ellie wasn’t there, which is when I met Ash. Another gem of a person. On Day 3, I was greeted by Ellie by name! She, Ash, and I had a real conversation about life. In a world where there is so much hatred, it’s extra special to be able to have true connections with one another. Establishments with staff like Newbreak are what make me want to spend money when I don’t need to. A final note to the barista, you make a very tasty vanilla breve latte! Thanks to all of you for your cheery greetings and fueling me with tasty food and drink!...
Read moreMy dad and I have been coming here for years and I will never be coming back with anyone.
We tried to order a sandwich at 12 and this guy rudely told us we couldn’t order until 12:10. So we had to wait, and my dad wanted to wash his hands so they gave him a token to use but the token wasn’t working and they refused to help him until someone else also said there was no one in the bathroom.
So the guy who works there said the bathroom must be jammed and didn’t tell us any alternatives. My dad asked a women pouring coffee if he could use their sink behind the counter. The women stepped out of the way so he thought it was ok to go to the sink.
Then while we we're eating, the guy who works there came to us much later and told us my dad was not welcome back. Fine by us.
I’ve worked in restaurants, yes I know my dad violated a health code but regardless the rudeness we experienced during our entire visit was unacceptable.
I mean making someone wait 10 minutes AT NOON to order lunch at 12:10 because you guys are still serving breakfast...
