Ocean Beach — Local services in San Diego

The star rating for Ocean Beach would vary greatly depending on the role through which I am experiencing it, and by definition of Ocean Beach in geographicil context. If we are talking about the town or the beach, I mean. If I were a tourist seeking a week away from work and responsibilities, I would leave with 4 or 5 stars in mind, I am sure. Excellent sunrises and sunsets on the beaches and cliffs for beautiful vacation photography is the first 5 star feature that comes to mind. There are so many opportunities to bird watch and observe nature constantly changing and growing. It does so quickly here. As far as food goes, I have yet to be impressed, and am often disappointed. I am told that there is no good pizza on the West Coast. There is plenty of great pizza back east. I rarely dine in, so maybe there is something the atmosphere of a place will make up for what the meal itself lacks. As a resident, potholes, oh my word potholes. Sidewalk cracks, too. The library is nice though. I expected much better from Ocean Beach. This place was legendary. Someone dropped the ball somewhere. People here are supposed to be kind and eccentric, intelligent and polite, most of all genuine and honest regardless of morals...and the weather is supposed to be...

This beach is cool if you do not have your pooch otherwise take'em just beyond the lifeguard stand and there you go ... but as you can see by the photos .. this beach get packed ... get there early for the parking spot ... the people are all over like jam on toast....

Busy beach .. Lots of people if that is what your looking for it's amazing - I am not - but its a great beach so can not take points for people ... the Nature is great just hope there are not to many people to mess the nature part up .. but think that might be to late - but since we have FREEDOM to believe what ever you like den... Well lets just say ..

1- Take your mess with you when you leave 2- Respect others (People seem to think they own the beach or something) 3-Leave only footprints (in a place where is allowed and where not allowed there is a reason - Human invasion)

Wide sandy beach with lots of space. Good swimming and boogie boarding off tower 2. Dog beach great for dog owners. Lots of birds and other wildlife on the river side to watch. Saw a falcon with a fish in its talons fly right over our head. Firepits are great for sunset fires if you can snag one early. Pier is in disrepair, will be interesting to see if it is rebuilt in coming years. It has gentrified a bit over the years but there are still colorful characters that make it unique.
