Seaport village is basically where my fiancee and I fell in love. It was a constant date night destination. Her and her mom used to always go down there and walk around and visit all the shops. When we first met she shared that this is one of her favorite places to go. Once we started going down there and walking during the evenings, we just keep going....A lot! We still frequent seaport village as there's many beautiful and interesting things to see, plenty of great food to eat and many places to grab a brew or wine and chill. Also a great place to exercise.
Whether you are viewing the Coronado bridge spanning over the San diego bay, seeing Coronado just across the way, viewing beautiful boats lining the docks or watching military and personal vessels embark on their voyages, shop hopping or eating at restaurants it is truly is a fun place to walk around.
Just to the north of Seaport village are many ships including the Midway and submarines that you can take tours of. To the south of seaport village you have the Convention center, Joe's Crab shack, a amphitheater and the Hilton which use to have a restaurant, but I don't I know if it's still there or not? There is a yogurt shop attached to the Hilton that we would walk down to that is self-serve with tons of toppings and was always delicious.
Seaport village itself has many shops that include plenty of tourist oriented shops. There are so many but of the top of the old head there is a Christmas store, Hot sauce store, Pirate store, clothing stores, rock shop, jewelry store plus many more. There are also tons of restaurants in the area that include both sit-down and window ordering with plenty of seating around, not to mention two different Ben & Jerry's right next to each other just in case the lines too long for you. There's also a cheesecake factory and across the street is a Kansas City barbecue where the original top gun's bar scene was filmed although the original one did burn down, but they rebuilt it exactly the same and it really is cool to see. There's also a carousel, water landscapings with benches where you can view some duckies and even chairs in the sand with an umbrella if you just want to relax.
I highly recommend going down to seaport village and checking it out. If you do park at seaport village proper, make sure to get your ticket validated as parking can be very expensive. I also highly recommend going up to the top of the Marriott and getting a glass of wine from the bar up top and taking in the amazing view.
We frequent down there often so I'll make sure to post more...
