PayPal customer service just rude and useless! As the third party like a middle man that I trusted, and have been used their service for a very kong time like 15 years plus but they never protecting customer like me. Here is my story. I made a transaction for $443 with Ali Express and pay via PayPal for multiple purchases in one transaction including 2 sellers. (1 seller has no merchandise available so they cancel my order and refunded me $334. The other seller sent me 2 set of clothes but it’s so big and I returned them both in form of the return labels they sent me separately in 1 tracking number that I have to put each item in each package and drop them off at ups with my receipt. But they only refunded me for 1 set of clothes that cheaper than the other set for $43 and refused to refund me for the other more expensive set. I reached to their customer service many times and even reaching to the upper management team at Ali-express but they just kepp denying as they said that at their warehouse reported with quantity different in my return). So then I have to dispute it with my financial bank as when I sent them my return receipt that Including both items, after the investigate and my bank was close the case in my favor with credit me back for other set of clothes on 5/2/25. But then on 5/5/25 I got a charged back from PayPal for the same amount as I didn’t know why I have a negative balance in my account. Then I called them to find out as first I talked to Ann to ask her why I got a negative balance? With all of my explantations and she created a case for me which she said she will have the manager know and to do the investigation then she will get back to me in the next couple of days on 5/11. But I didn’t hear from her that’s why I called them on 5/14 and talked to Gwen as she checked and found that there was a duplicate amounts had sent to my financial institute as she advised me to call my bank and requesting for the refund. But when I called my bank and I talk to the representative there, her name is Mckenzie, after verifying and she said there was only 1 credit for the amount that shown in my acct not 2. Then I have to call PayPal back again on 5/15 which yesterday and talk to several reps there after waiting for too long to talk to Kevin and explained what was going on as Gwen gave me a fault info which PayPal never sent to my bank twice of the refund amounts. Then I asked her for help but she can’t don anything with it and she said that she’s only can get me to the Negative department as they the only will have all of accesses to my account to help with it. But after waiting to get transfers to them, and I end up talked to Tracy as she done nothing for me but just tell me roughly that if I don’t pay whatever negative in my account and she will send me to collection. I said why you guys just passing around and now gave me this decision which unfair for me then I asked her to transfer me to the customer resolution as I spoke to Shaunda ID# 1569630, this person even rudderless that I have told as because my bank took the money from them to credit back for me and Ali-express got the money that they have to charged me back for it. I explained that I talked to my bank and on 5/1 you gave up with the dispute that why they have an authorized to giving me the money back and I asked why you charged me now as you need to work with my bank instead? But she didn’t wanted to hear from me and keep insisting to tell me that the case was closed that she can’t do nothing for me as I asked her to sent me to her supervisor or upper management to seek for help. But she said she is the one to make that decision as there’s nothing else she can help me with. I told her base on their customer protection policy that I have 120 days from date of purchase to have a right to get my money back if I was right. Since I have all of my evidences to show but she denies to help and keeps telling me that there is nothing she can do. Today I have to talk with my bank again. What’s a...
Read moreI've had nothing but bad experiences with PayPal over the years, and this latest scam just reinforces how shady and unethical they are.
I recently received an email directly from Venmo (owned by PayPal) inviting me to take a survey in exchange for an eGift card. Before answering anything, I verified the link to ensure it was legitimate,(paypal-survey.com) and even analyzed the domain name to confirm it was in fact owned by paypal--it was. So, I took the survey in good faith.
What happened next? After answering several questions, I was suddenly told the survey was “too popular” and closed before I could finish. At that point, they had already collected my responses, but I got nothing in return. This is blatant fraud—they get free market research while misleading participants with false promises of compensation.
If a legitimate company runs a survey and it’s full, they don’t let you start it in the first place. PayPal/Venmo allows you to begin, extracts the data they need, then kicks you out before fulfilling their side of the deal. This isn’t an accident—it’s a calculated scam to get free user feedback.
This whole experience brought back up another shady experience I had with them a year ago. I had sold an iPhone 11 Pro Max on Swappa, which requires sellers to use PayPal for transactions. This is not the first item I ever sold, let alone the first phone I sold on Swappa. I have been selling phones on and off there for several years, and before that, have a history of sales that span over two decades (Ive been selling on eBay since I was a teenager in high school, and I'm 38 now).
Despite having a perfect seller history spanning DECADES, PayPal refused to release my money for 21 days, calling me a "new seller." Their reasoning? I hadn’t sold $2,000 worth of items in the past six months—as if my long-term track record means nothing.
I contacted customer service and spoke to FOUR different supervisors who all refused to help. I explained that I didn’t even have enough money to ship the item because they were holding my funds hostage. Their response?
"Just wait 21 days to ship it, then you'll have the money."
Seriously? Are you that dumb? If I don’t ship the phone within 48 hours, the sale gets canceled, and there won’t be any money to release in 21 days. PayPal’s “support” team didn’t care at all—their policies are designed to trap sellers and hold onto money for as long as possible.
I had to scramble to find money just to ship the package so I wouldn’t lose the sale. Even after the buyer received it, confirmed delivery, and left me 5-star feedback, PayPal still made me wait an extra week to get my money. I even submitted a BBB complaint, but PayPal ignored it for months before giving me a copy-paste response.
Final Thoughts – Don’t Use PayPal If You Have Any Choice
PayPal operates like a shady, unregulated bank that abuses its power over transactions. They have zero concern for sellers, they use fraudulent tactics in surveys, and their customer service is useless.
If you’re a seller, DO NOT use PayPal. Use Zelle, Venmo (ironically), CashApp, Stripe, or Wise instead. If you get a survey invite from Venmo, don’t waste your time—it’s a scam to get free market research without paying participants.
PayPal has been screwing people over for years, and this is just the latest example. I refuse to use them whenever I have...
Read moreI have been with paypal, almost fifteen years. I am very disappointed. The quality of PayPal has went way down. Their representatives, they must be getting homeless people off the street, they don't know what they're doing. They don't care. I was just put on hold for 30 minutes. Asking for a supervisor nobody ever came back. I've called at least 10 times in the past week. All of my cases were promised to be Ended by the fifth of this month. It is now after the tenth. I am so angry and upset.I sent everything they asked for pictures everything. It seems more like they care like helping the seller who has screwed me over rather than helping me. I highly suggest you do not go with paypal. There are too many other good companies.I have discovered . Pay palace no longer quality and they don't care about their customers at all. They prove in that to me. If they don't give me my money back on these 4 cases. I'm just going to I want to cancel my paypal master card and cancel my paypal after fifteen years. It's a shame that big companies like this are hiring unknowledgeable representatives that just don't care they're there for a buck, they're not there to help you at paypal. I urge you do not use paypal if you have it.Cancel it. I've asked for supervisor many times they don't get a supervisor they put me on hold and never come back. Some people even tell me, they don't get supervisors, they're never available. This is not true. Representatives only have so much power. But they don't care at all to even try. Paypal is the worst.I do not need the stress or aggravation.Anymore. I sent them pictures of all the damaged products. I told the girl originally, I said, i'm going to throw this stuff in the garbage. It's all broken, she said, go ahead, you're going to win anyway. This is not true because they don't care. Money is valuable nowadays. I feel like I'm throwing it away. Don't buy from ally express either because they started this whole problem by throwing all the items in a bag, everything got smashed and ruined. As for PayPal, they are garbage too. They used to be the best they used to care. They have not showed that to me in years. I had one good Asian supervisor maybe about a year ago, he was a male and he really cared and helped. But since then, I have gotten garbage as far as representati. It's not worth all the time and aggravation, I've literally been calling every day, spending hours trying to get my money back. I opened 4 cases they even sent me an email. This morning saying no, that I need to send the product back that I was refunded fifteen dollars. This is simply not true. I was not refunded. I think I may have to seek a high-powered attorney that I know he is not afraid to take on PayPal. He will win and they will be sorry if they don't give me all my...
