My boyfriend and I stayed here June 8th-13th. Checking in was pretty easy. We got to the hotel at 10:15am. Check in isn't until 4 but they allow you to drop off your bags. They also give you a a key so you can go to the pool or gym while you wait for check in. The breakfast is good. We ate there almost every day of our stay. There is a lot of variety. Bread, bagels, fruit, eggs, ham, sausage, waffles, and cereal. Juice, coffee, and water to drink. Get down there early because the lines get long and stuff starts running out. You then have to wait for replenishment. The rooms are spacious and clean. The towels are great too. For some reason they don't give you face rags. You have to ask for them. There is a shuttle that will take you to nearby attractions for free. It runs all day long. Don't expect anyone at the front desk to tell you about it though. Front desk is weak. They don't offer any type of list for attractions near the hotel or anything. Not even in conversation. Old San Juan and the T-Mobile district are nearby. Good restaurants and shopping over there. The pool is nice. They have the cabanas, food and drinks out there. We didn't bring our kids on this trip but there is an area for children to play in the water with slides and things. The gym is well equipped. My boyfriend went pretty much every day.

Now for the areas of improvement: They booked us on the 1st floor when 3 out of the 5 days we were staying there was a prom at night. We were in room 125 which is closest room to the prom. The first night was terrible. The music was crazy loud, kids were standing outside of our door talking loud. They didn't even need to be in the area where our door was. When I finally left the room to go talk to the front desk about the kids standing in front of our door talking, I get out there and see the security guard standing with the door to the prom party wide open, letting all of the music noise into the hallway. Why in the heck, would he be doing that? That's why it sounds like we were actually in the prom ourselves. The noise was echoing all the way through the hallway. The front desk agent had the security guard, shut the door and he also told the kids that they couldn't go beyond a certain point in the hallway, because at that point you are disturbing guests, so that helped a little but the prom didn't end until 1 am. I think it was terrible that the hotel knew that they had these proms, scheduled all week and put us on the first floor with all that noise and partying. The second night I went to the front desk and asked to be moved to another room. Fortunately, there was a room on the second floor available on the opposite side of the building. There was hardly any noise, but you could still hear the music slightly. Bring your own beach towel because sometimes they run out of beach towels out at the pool. There are 2 sets of washers and dryers on the 5th floor but you will need to make sure you bring your own soap powder. They did not have any down at the front. Also, make sure that you have cash to get quarters. Because there are no change machines in there. The washer and dryers do not take cards. They also didn't have quarters readily available either. I had to ask twice. The housekeeping rotation is confusing as well. They have some sort of schedule on their website. However, I couldn't figure it out. It's very unclear and maid service didn't show up every day, nor every other day. So which is it? The water pressure on the second floor was not as good as the first floor but the water gets really hot, which was great. The best part of the hotel was when we met Carlos, the bartender. We are avid hockey fans and we were able to watch the florida panthers game on monday night and thursday night without any...

If you're looking for a hotel experience that makes you question all of your life choices, Hyatt Place San Juan is the place for you!

Let’s start with the beds. If you’ve ever wanted to be stabbed by rogue feathers while questioning if you’re sleeping on an actual mattress or a medieval torture device, congratulations—you’ve found your dream stay! My dead grandfather could have built a more comfortable bed from driftwood and live ducks. Please refer to the photo I took of the mattress they had us sleep on. It was literally falling apart, showing an exposed rusted metal spring frame!

The floors? Oh, they tell a story—a horror story. I’m pretty sure whatever was lurking in that carpet has its own ecosystem. They haven’t been cleaned since at least the early 2000s, and it shows.

And then there’s the bar. I was charged $22 plus tip for a double shot of blended scotch. For that price, I could’ve bought an entire bottle of gas-station scotch and had enough left over for a regretful decision or two. But the real crime? They served it in a plastic cup. A plastic cup. Who does that to scotch? This wasn’t a frat party—I was expecting at least a sad little whiskey glass.

Need extra towels or pillows? Better file a formal request and prepare for The Great Wait because it took two days to get them. Apparently, such high-demand luxury items require government clearance.

And breakfast? Let’s just say it came with extra protein—uninvited bugs. Nothing like a little side of mystery insects to really wake you up in the morning. Oh, and I had to sort through the dishes to find one that didn’t look like it had been on an archaeological dig. Apparently, quality control checked out on vacation the same time we did.

Instead of spending your mortgage payment to stay here, do yourself a favor—book somewhere else. Literally anywhere else. There are plenty of local spots with amazing food, great service, and employees who don’t treat you like a burden. Speaking of which, if you're hungry, skip the overpriced hotel food and hit up the food truck park half a mile away. Trust me, you’ll thank me later. On a lighter note, the splash pad was a lot of fun for our children. I'm still not sure why the had an out door bar with a TV, as it was never manned with a bartender nor was the TV on while we were there. Nevertheless, the kids did love the splash pad.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Place in San Juan for one night before a cruise, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While the location is undeniably convenient, being right across from the cruise terminal, the quality of my room significantly overshadowed the prime location.

I booked room 413 for $430, plus an additional $70 in resort fees for one night. Upon entering the room, I was immediately hit with a horrific smell reminiscent of body odor and dirty clothes. It was an unpleasant surprise, especially considering the price paid for the accommodation.

I promptly went to the front desk to address the issue, expecting some assistance or, ideally, a room change. To my disappointment, the staff offered no help in relocating me but assured me they would send someone to address the problem. Two hours later, with no sign of assistance, I returned to the front desk, only to be told once again that someone would be sent to my room.

After an additional 30 minutes of waiting, a staff member finally arrived with a bottle of Febreze, claiming it was the best they could do. For a room costing $500 a night, the resolution felt inadequate and somewhat comical. The lack of a more substantial effort to address the issue was disappointing.

During my stay, I encountered a construction worker/electrician who had been living at the hotel for over a year. This raised suspicions that my room may have previously housed a long-term worker, and the lingering smell was a consequence.

In contrast to my past positive experiences at this hotel several years ago, this recent stay fell far short of expectations. With $500 a night, I could have opted for the Hilton on the beach and likely enjoyed a cleaner and more pleasant environment.

The most disheartening part of my experience was the hotel's lack of a satisfactory resolution. A mere bottle of Febreze did not compensate for the inconvenience and discomfort. As a result, I won't be returning to the Hyatt Place San Juan, and I would caution others to explore alternative options for a more satisfying stay. See the...
