Read moreThis church is orthodox and faithful, and the priests are very lively. They are actively engaged in shepherding souls to God. I went through the Consecration to Mary according to St. Louis de Montfort here, expecting maybe 12 people would participate in the program. Instead, the church was full and all the parking taken during the program.
There is perpetual adoration here, and confession before every one of the many weekend masses. Last year there was an immense display of relics from the Vatican hosted here, with nearly 500 relics including some associated with the earliest apostles and martyrs.
I was astonished to read the one-star review of someone who said homeless people were treated poorly here and that a gray-haired lady was in tears. I have never, ever seen anyone treated poorly here. Few homeless people come to this church, but when I have seen people who appear homeless, they have never, EVER been asked to leave unless they are drunk, interrupt the service, are obviously using a pew to sleep during a service, or begin asking the people around them for money during or after the service. I have seen all of these things happen, and people would be asked to leave in these circumstances whether they are homeless or not. Additionally, there are regular collections for the poor, made through the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which distributes assistance to...
Read moreI left behind this ages ago, but the memory of being there is still is precious Dad and I would attend masses together. The last time was there 2000. Moved to Sacramento to be mom. I lived in New Mexico in 2016. Our Lady Of peace was a one safe place of love. 2nd safe place was Manresa Beach. More love and importantly, God has awesome sense humor as the waves threw back to shore. I felt safe. There I began to develop a one to one relationship with our Savior. I still miss that church and ocean. I am aging now... beginning my last journey/adventure home. Some say it is hope. I have heard too many times "This is I heard "Get up, I am counting on you". The last day of my husband is a very precious memory. I God gave him to take shower, get dressed, come into Kitchen, turned me away from the stove to kiiss me. together we drove Brooks to school. Got home and he went back to bed. Within just few seconds, I knew what was happening, I called Father Jack, my parents, the last I was to his doctor and him letter from David . In that he apologized that he didn't have enough time to adopt Brooks. He mentioned that I was his angel and Brooks was my son. Brooks has that letter. God works in many ways. Coming here to visit brought up memories. With hope and prayer, the your not be forgotten. Memories that unite you in love, faith and...
