I visited the Santa Rosa Plaza mall 10-30-17 and parked in the garage located behind the Sears store. The parking kiosks were both out of order and there was a sign noting this taped to the kiosks. However, these signs say nothing about where else I could go pay, I went in and talked to a Sears employee who was clueless. I talked to another employee, also clueless. I tried calling the mall but there was no one to speak with as it diverted my call to a message service. I left a message saying I was basically stuck in the garage and would be complaining about this soon. I spent about 40 minutes trying to figure out how to get out of the garage, I even tried calling a few more times until my phone died. I then decided to just try to leave, luckily by this time there was an attendant at one of the exits helping people leave, but apparently not because of the kiosk trouble. Thankfully she let me leave, but this is not to say that there isn't still a problem. When I visit the mall I usually park at Sears because its the only store I shop at there and I never go into the main part of the mall. The attendant told me there is a kiosk there, but I would have never known as I never go into that part of the mall. At the very least your out-of-order signs should direct patrons where to go to pay for there parking, I was just one of many people who were very confused about this. In my 40 minutes there I saw countless people attempt to pay only to find they couldn't, so they stood there trying to figure out what to do. These kiosks should also have a phone number to call in the case that there is something wrong with them, but there is nothing, not a single number or bit of information on what you can do if its not working.... A map near the kiosks showing where all other kiosks are in the mall would also be wise. This is unacceptable and I will likely not be shopping at this mall anymore, this is not the first time I have had issues like this there. This issue has continued to happen since also. There were long lines for the only kiosk that was working which I saw posted online by friends and the elevators were also...
Β Β Β Read moreIncredibly disappointed. Not by the fact that this is a dying mall... Most malls are, but the lack of consideration for people with disabilities and those who are not gender conforming.
My friend and I came here today to hang, shop, and grab a bite to eat before heading to the train back to San Rafael. Before we left my friend (who is trans) needed to use the restroom, after we realized there were no "gender neutral" or "family bathrooms" near the food court we followed signs that took us downstairs to the main level, along a very long hallway only to be met by 2 traditional restrooms, a nursing station, and a locked gener neutral bathroom with a number to call.
We called the number and asked where there might be a restroom we could use and we're told to go back to the locked restroom and they would send a security guard. We then asked if there were any unlocked "family" bathrooms and we were promptly told no. The only option in the entire mall was this one bathroom that we would have to wait for a security guard to let us into.
My friend started to feel anxious, because to him it meant he would have to wait there for some stranger to affirm, confirm or deny his gender just to use the restroom.
It's 2024, someday this situation and review will seem antiquated, but right now, this place is part of the system that keeps certain populations marginalized.
I honestly believe it's unintentional, for them it's a way to control access to the bathroom, but think about how messed up that is as a...
Β Β Β Read moreone time I was shopping there and stopped at one of the charging stations when this mall cop, named ghallagher or something like that, had came over to shoo off some other people and then turned on me too. the other people where obviously transients with backpacks and worn cloths and etc.
I was there with my relatively new laptop...
he didnt even ask anyone if they where there shopping, he told me the mall policy was that the area was for shoppers and that to sit there you needed to have already shopped or to have the intent to shop (I had gone to starbucks and was going to go again on my way out after a few hours relaxing away from the heat). he didnt even ask me if i had shopped, or if i had the intentions to shop, he emphasized the mall policy and told me I needed to leave. I, having worked in security, then asked very clearly if he was exercising power of authority and acting as the establishments legal representative... he demanded I leave and that he was going to call the cops, so that was a yes.
I felt like calling to complain but Ive been through a lot of emotional muck the past 6 or so months and this situation just got caught up in the current... though, now that yelp/google maps is asking and I am now thinking about it again maybe this time I will call...
