We are new-ish to escape rooms, only having been to 2 escape rooms before. We attempted the Titanic room and failed. This room was really hard mainly because it was incredibly hard to differentiate what information was relevant and which was not. There was WAY too much to look at and decipher. There were many things placed in the room that were not relevant and made it very tricky. There was almost WAY too much to be able to figure it all out in the allotted time, especially going back and forth from one room to another. A lot of time is wasted figuring out what key goes to what box, going back and forth between rooms figuring out which letter is needed for what code… The one letter combination lock we had didn’t even work, the game master had to come and figure out why it wasn’t working.. The big ship picture on the wall that disperses a key, it didn’t work.. the game master couldn’t get it out either and even though he paused the time- we had already wasted so much time not being able to get it out, and also with the other combination lock. You are also limited to only 4 hints and they are very cryptic hints that don’t help a whole lot. I also found it odd that they don’t have any way to communicate with the game masters.. you just have to jump around and hope they see you on the camera and that you need help- this also ate up alot of our time. Other places provide walkie talkies.. I also want to say - as a person with visual impairments, the screens are not great for providing clues or instructions.. also wastes a lot of time walking to look at the screen versus just listening through a walkie talkie.
Challenging but beware that certain parts of the game do not work properly and will waste lots of...
Read moreOdyssey's escape rooms are very well done. The stories are immersive- the puzzles are fun while still making sense for the scene. They do an amazing job with knowing their history behind their stories and rooms. We did the Titanic room and Jack the ripper.
Titantic room- the puzzles in this room were amazing and very fun to figure out. I don't want to give away anything so I won't. The sound track and lighting were spot on. The journals they give you are very helpful. The hints are well stated- they give nudges without revealing everything. Escaping felt like you were getting off of the RMS Titanic, and we learned some new things along the way- you won't see Rose or Jack in this story.
Jack the ripper- the staff warns you of this ahead of time, but this is not so much as an escape room as it is a murder mystery/investigation. The scene was very historic. You need to take your time and be organized for this room. The sound for the room in general is a touch loud- it can make important parts of the investigation be hard to hear. Beyond that, this room is very fun for a group who communicates well and is always looking for the finer details. I do not recommend wearing heels or a dress in this room, be ready to move around.
All in all, we really enjoyed Odyssey's escape rooms. The staff was helpful and very polite while providing good feedback/insight into their rooms. The front area is very comfortable and fits a large amount of people. The location is within an office building, but if you look for the blue you'll find the correct suite. We are excited to come back and try their other rooms. We'll...
Read moreTo start with, if I had left this review after my first experience, it would have been a 4/5. The first game we played was Jack the Ripper and we had a great time in the room. Our game master was thorough and personable, making for an enjoyable experience. We were able to escape and had a great conversation with our game master afterwards. Because of this, we came back a week later to try our hand at the Titanic room. We immediately had a different impression as our game master appeared disinterested right off the bat. He went through instructions very quickly and seemed eager to leave the room. During our time in the room, one of the clues that we asked for was something that we had already completed in the room. This was very frustrating to have a clue wasted. Even still, we managed to get out of the room with about a minute to spare. Once he came into the room, he did not say congratulations and instead, jumped straight into explaining things we "missed" in the room as if we didn't escape. He then proceeded to walk through most of the puzzles in the room and lecture us on how they should have been completed. This is one of many escape rooms we have completed and never before have we been talked down to after successfully escaping a room. This has us seriously evaluating whether or not to come back which is disappointing as we had hoped to complete the other rooms...
