It's pretty stingy to not let members use their 2 free guest passes per month how they like. Now you can only bring one particular person once every 30 days. So you still get 2 passes but it's super regulated and I am unclear on the reason why other than what appears to be pure greed. Climbing there is fun though so if you don't mind that the whole pricing structure is set up to take advantage of the customer (making you pay them a whole month even if you're injured, busy, or ill and literally can't climb, yes you can get a doctors note but come on what is this, middle school?) then it is worth it. Just to clarify, if you happen to get injured on the 27th of a month you're already too late to cancel for the next month but if you are injured on the 26th then you only miss out on the last days of the month. Unless you have the extra time and pray that your doctor has an appointment right away and will write you a note. They claim this is to make it "easier" on their staff but they just made it harder on their staff trying to track non members using an SBP members free guess pass to attend the gym more than once per 30 days. So if it helps SBP it's okay for their staff to do some extra work, but if it helps the customers to not be paying during times they can't even use the gym then they claim it's too much work. Convenient...Also not being able to freeze a pre bought year of membership is another massive show that they do not care about their customers but don't need to. They make enough money to alienate long term members and be fine. Part of becoming a corporate money maker I guess. I don't even really have a problem with the massive price hikes since it's so popular, but I don't like how they have it set up so that they are getting money from people who aren't even able to use their gym if they are injured, ill, or some other emergency comes up. But I think the gyms themselves are really fun and so is the climbing. The staff has always been friendly. And with 4 gyms in Seattle you can never complain about the amount of new routes. This place would get an easy 5 stars if I felt their pricing was more fair to...

I used to really love SBP, especially this location. If you can believe it, there was a time when the gym used to be completely empty during the afternoons. However, in the past year or so, the gyms have gotten so busy to the point where you need to show up an hour before yoga classes in order to MAYBE find a parking spot. The gym is so packed at all hours its impossible to enjoy your climb safely.

The influx of new climbers means that there are often children running around the mats, underneath people on the wall, and said new climbers ignore safety procedures. It also has become very unwelcoming for those of us who have been climbing for years. I've witnessed friends get berated by other climbers, have had to stop my route in the middle of climbing when someone else started climbing next to me, have seen people climb when there are people on the mat right underneath them/people not move when others are climbing. There's simply too many people now and theres no way to manage that all of these people will know proper climbing etiquette or safety.

During Covid, the gym had a cap on visitors, and I wish they would've kept that. They really need to stop allowing new members to join, or start rigorously vetting that the ones who do join will respect other climbers.

SBP hasn't felt like a community in years, and this is reflected in the $20 membership increase within the last YEAR. Pricing went from $75 a month to $95 a month in a little...

Nice, modern, and relatively clean facility that would otherwise be an excellent gym if it weren’t for the staff. I came to check out the gym about an hour before close. Didn’t climb, just worked out a bit downstairs. About five minutes before close I started putting all my stuff away and headed upstairs to grab my backpack. As I got upstairs (at exactly 10:00) a staff member was throwing all of my clothes and backpack from the top level over the railing to the main level. I was confused but started gathering up my stuff to go. I made a comment to the staff member wondering how my headphones had gotten moved into the lost and found, and she replied “well if you had left when you were supposed to I wouldn’t have had to move them.” I have been climbing for a decade and worked in climbing gyms for five years. Never in my life have I experienced as much snark, condescension, and lack of basic social skills as I did with the staff here. Keep in mind that I was out by 10:03, literally 3 minutes after the gym closed. I just can’t quite understand why the staff have such a terrible attitude towards their customers. Maybe I just got unlucky with the woman I talked to, but I certainly won’t give SBP...

Seattle Bouldering Project - Fremont is the latest addition to Seattle's climbing scene and part of the Bouldering Project family of climbing gyms including two other locations in Seattle - Poplar and Upper Walls right down the street. It is a bouldering only facility so no rope climbing. While smaller than their Poplar location it still offers a full list of amenities including lots of climbing walls, a weight room, yoga studio, hangboard area, and two system walls - Tension and Grasshopper with LED lights. I really enjoyed the layout of the gym and think it's well thought out. They have a main floor with an upstairs observation area that overlooks the main climbing room where the locker rooms are also located and a downstairs with a weight room, system walls, a kids area, yoga studio, and a smaller climbing area. Parking looks like it can be limited during peak hours but that's the only downside I can see. Overall great gym and worth a visit for both new climbers and veterans alike.
