DO NOT COME HERE! MANAGER KNOWINGLY LETS CUSTOMERS DEAL WITH PROBLEMS OR HAVE TO PAY MORE MONEY DUE TO THEIR OWN NEGLIGENCE AND LAZINESS! TREAT CUSTOMERS WITH ATTITUDE AND DISRESPECT! YOU WILL NOT BE REFUNDED FOR THEIR TERRIBLE TREATMENT OF CUSTOMERS Horrible and rude staff. I asked about my Chicago steamworks card if it would work here because I know they are part of a separate steamworks group. He said that it would work, but I told him I didn't have the card with me because I was under the impression that it wouldn't have worked. He got nasty that I had even asked about it when I didn't have the card with me as if I was just wasting his time. I am a curious person and wanted to know how the anonymous worked and he gave barely answered anything about it, seemed he didn't know how it worked. Then he sarcastically said I to me I don't remember if you wanted a room or a locker because you have asked soooo many questions.... really rude but I just moved on from it.

Next I got to my room and then went to get a water and Gatorade at the vending machines. They wouldn't vend after a few tries with card and then one water came out. Then I tried a few more times and the gatorade and it wouldn't dispense. I couldn't understand why it suddenly wouldn't work. I then watched 4 other paying customers not get their drinks and struggle with the machines. I went to the front desk to let them know what was going on. I asked what else I could do to have my card work and they said that the only option is an atm that of course you have to pay a fee for. I told them that's not right to do to your customers. They told me their is nothing they can do because the machines are serviced by an outside company and that they can do nothing about it. That it has really poor signal and it doesn't work very often. So they were very well aware of the problem. I then suggested to the employee that they should put some kind of sign to let people know it doesn't always work well, so.people don't waste their time. To that I received the nastiest look as if I had taken a dump on the floor or something. Was awful... I got to the point where I wanted to leave and decided to talk to the manager. I told him about the front desk situation and he didn't care about his staff being rude. I then talked with him about the machines not working and he said they don't own the machines... okay I get that but these are also your customers! Do right by them and fix the problem. I asked him why would you not put a sign on the machines so your customers know that your machines don't work well and he told me "THEY WILL FIGURE IT OUT ON THEIR OWN" I saw 4 customers in 5 minutes struggle with the machines. This multiplied out is thousands and thousands of customers going through the same thing and the manager does absolutely nothing. How hard is it to put a sign up so people know? I care because I want the best for people and try to do good by anyone. This manager lacks a basic common decency and does not care for his customers. Please choose a better place to spend your time and do not support these...

I’ve been coming to steamworks for a while now and have almost always had a good experience. With the exception of one staff member, everyone has always been friendly and really nice and patient. There’s an east Asian staff member that seems to always go out of his way to be demeaning and disrespectful. If I see him working I almost don’t want to go in because I know he’s going to be rude and that’s all my mind can focus on while I’m there. He purposefully ignores whatever I’m asking him, has tried charging more than the listed price and the most recent experience on 12/27/23 made me so upset and uncomfortable that I felt I needed to post a review on it so that others can be aware of his uncouth and rude behavior. When I checked in with him this last time, I kept it brief because I know if I speak more he gets angry, so I asked for a locker, paid what was needed to be paid and I guess I made the mistake of asking for a different size towel. He ignored me, so I asked again, and he stared at me and said to proceed inside, so I repeat myself in case he didn’t hear me so he sternly and angrily tells me to proceed inside. I shouldn’t feel like I did something wrong by asking for a different size towel. I go inside as instructed and wait for him to come over thinking he may walk over to help me with the towel situation, but instead ignores me and walks away. I wait again thinking he might have gone to the back to grab a towel but he doesn’t come back out. I can understand being stressed out, tired etc, but being extremely rude and disrespectful to clients shouldn’t be the answer especially when they haven’t done anything wrong. At this point if I see him working the desk I won’t bother trying to go in because I don’t want to deal with his horrible attitude and I suggest to others to do the same. Everyone else though is lovely, has a smile on their face despite how busy it is, and is super...

I once had to book when I missed a connecting flight and I found the establishment a mix between busy not busy, clean, and the ambiance welcoming. One is responsible for their timely checkout and this is made convienent with monitors posting room checkout times. It wasn't terribly busy but I still enjoyed my time there. There is no jaccuzi, but there was a steam, dry sauna at the time. On reading many of the reviews, seldom written anymore, since the pandemic squawshed attendence, many of these facilities are struggling to remain open. For one, having a wet area takes a tremendous amount of $$$ and effort to prevent mildue and ensure cleanliness, in particular the jacuizzi and pools. Signs posted state showering first, why? The main cause of water soiliage is the lack of showering. Sun creams wash off and spoil the clear clean water, among other dirty habits by customers I care not to mention. Foam builds up and in no time the wet facilities must be cleaned again literally, every 12 hours, and for some more frequent. These amnenities are the first to suffer neglect or elimination.

Alot of reviewers are downright mean and denigrating, snarky and completely unfair in opinions, and some are justified but over the top discrimatory. The days of these establishments are numbered. They exist for profit, but they are also community. Our freedom to live free of harrasment is coming to an end. You will one day wish there is one of these hideouts and getaways. Society forces LGBTQ to live on the margins indicative of where many of these places exist. You should remember this the next time you pull up to visit one on the outskirts of a city. YOUR MEAN AND NASTY REVIEWS DO MORE HARM...
