I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ben for a while now, and I can confidently say that he’s one of the best trainers I’ve ever encountered. When I first joined the gym, I was a complete beginner and felt a bit overwhelmed by the whole fitness scene. Ben immediately put me at ease with his approachable and friendly attitude. He took the time to get to know me, my fitness goals, and my current level of experience, and from there, he crafted a workout plan that was both challenging and achievable.
What sets Ben apart is his attention to detail and his deep understanding of fitness. Every session, he takes the time to explain not just how to do an exercise but also why it’s important, how it impacts different muscle groups, and how to adjust my form for maximum effectiveness and injury prevention. His expertise is clear, but what really shines through is his passion for helping his clients succeed.
Over the time we’ve worked together, I’ve seen real improvements in my strength, endurance, and overall fitness. Ben is great at progressively increasing the intensity of my workouts without making me feel like I’m in over my head. He knows just when to push me beyond my comfort zone and when to pull back, ensuring that I continue to make progress while staying safe.
Another thing I really appreciate about Ben is his consistent encouragement. Ben’s always there with positive reinforcement, making me feel like I’m capable of more than I thought. He genuinely cares about my progress and celebrates every milestone, big or small. His enthusiasm is infectious and keeps me motivated even on days when I don’t feel 100%.

Read moreThis is a great gym! I did a free trial week starting Jan 6, 2025 and yesterday was my first day as a member. I've been to 5 classes so far and I am very impressed with the knowledge of the trainers and the care they put into the workouts. The class sizes are small (9 is the most I've seen so far) so they can really be present with each member, which is really helpful as I'm just getting back into a regular routine after about a 2 year hiatus from exercising with equipment.
I love that this is a small local business. They listen to feedback about when class would be best suited for their members, they check in with you regarding goals and injuries, and you can tell they are striving to be "real", non-pretentious, and welcoming to all. The members are the same - encouraging and friendly, and all on various levels of their fitness journey, so I don't feel out of place or judged. I also enjoy that each day the class emphasizes a different part of the body, so if I stick to my goal of going every weekday, I will hit all areas and really see results.
They're not gimmicky or sales-y, and the trainers and owner John really care about what they're doing. In my quest to get back into a routine, I signed up for a free week at 3 different gyms I could walk to, and Local Fit was the first one I attended. I'm glad I started here because after the 2nd class I cancelled the other two and knew I had found the right fit for me.

Best. Trainers. Ever. I've been working on my v2 personal update and a large part of that is losing weight and getting into shape. At the time I started training at Local Fit, I had recently undergone major joint replacement and I was just able to move freely again after about 7 years walking with a cane. I was nervous about getting a personal trainer at first because of previous experiences. But Local Fit is something completely different. Rather than making you into a 'project' that the trainer needs to work on, the trainers at Local Fit are there to work on YOUR terms. I've never felt pressured into signing anything I didn't want to or been made to feel guilty for needing to reschedule a session. My trainer, Mitch, is the best trainer I've ever worked with. He's patient, knowledgeable, a really good teacher, and he makes sure to both work at a pace that I'm comfortable with while also pushing me to beat personal records. Working with Mitch has been an amazing experience! Going to the gym doesn't have to be a nerve-wrecking experience.
