Thank you in advanced for reading, it's a long review, but I believe it's worth your attention and time. ||My husband and I stayed here just for a quick weekend trip to NYC. We chose this hotel because of the convenience of having the bus stop right outside the hotel. Took the 320 bus to Port Authority. $4.50 each way (we paid cash and the driver could not give us change back just fyi). We were at Port Authority terminal in about 15 minutes, it was perfect! ||When we checked in, the concierge was on the phone and when she got done talking, she was complaining how the person on the other line did not understand her and couldn't speak any English. First, I don't need to know about the conversation you had. And second, it's just not a great look for you or the hotel. You're supposed to be welcoming and polite and you missed the opportunity to do so.||Now let's talk about the actual room we stayed in. From first glance it seemed fine. We just needed a basic, clean place to stay, nothing fancy, but we couldn't even get that. The floors had not been probably mopped in months. After my shower I used the towel to wipe some water off the floor and the towel went from bright white to brown. Disgusting. We did not go barefoot at all that weekend in the room. My socks I wore from the bathroom to the bed instantly went from a baby blue to a brown from the floors (picture provided). It was just unsettling and made you think about other surfaces that have probably not been touched in months. Also, bring your own toiletries. 1 small bar of soap is all we got. No shampoo, conditioner or lotion provided. I had brought my own luckily so didn't need to ask. It's not a big deal asking, but it feels more welcoming when those things are already provided. ||Now let's get to the continental breakfast. For the price we paid for two nights (a little over $500) we were expecting a bit more options. Oatmeal, packaged muffins-not fresh, granola bars and coffee. That's all. I don't expect much from continental breakfast, but this seemed to be sub par from most. Some fresh fruit and toppings for the oatmeal would have been nice, and maybe some juice and non pre packaged muffins could be an idea.||I have never stayed at an extended stay before, but I was expecting the room to have at least plates and silverware already there. We ended up having to ask the front desk for a few plates and forks, which is no big deal, but the concierge at the desk acted like it was a whole task for her to do that. The "let me go see" after we asked was filled with attitude and bother. All I wanted was to enjoy my birthday cheesecake đ||Overall the only reasons I would tell you to stay here is if you need a quick place to stay for a night or two that has easy and affordable access into the city. Bring extra socks or slippers and maybe pack your own breakfast items if you're a breakfast person. Otherwise I would not come back here for the two reasons of cleanliness and lack of hospitality. There are plenty other hotels in that same plaza area that might be a little more expensive, but worth it and you get the same convenience of the bus stop. I get it, it's dirty jersey, but can that not apply to the...
Read moreIt is literally a disgrace and a disgraceful hotel. Do not go, warn those who go, do not go. We came to New York for the first time as a family on vacation. I made a reservation for 9 nights at the Extended Stay America hotel Secaucus Newyork by paying the money in advance through Agoda. I sent an e-mail to the hotel through Agoda stating that I would be checking in late. When we checked in at 12:00 at night, the person at the reservation said that our room was not available, that they sold the room, that their hotel was full and that we should look for another hotel because there was no room. He said these things so comfortably, shamelessly and without any reservation that we thought he was joking at first. We experienced the shock of our lives with the reality of the event. Our reservation is not for 1 night, it is for 9 nights and for three people and we sold your room. He says. Unbelievable. No sadness, no apology and no effort to help. We called Agoda. Agoda said let's find you a new hotel, of course they couldn't find a room for 9 nights for three people at that hour. We asked for our money back. The hotel clerk didn't care, he said you can only get it in 30 days. We started to think that we came to be murderers, not for a vacation. By the way, it was 3:00 am at night. The brazen person at the reservation said let me give you a room for tonight. At 3:00 am, the clerk asked me for 210 USD more for the room we paid in advance but couldn't stay in, and said he could give us a room for that night. We continued to be shocked. How can you give me a room if you don't have one? Besides, you've already taken my money and what more money do you want? As you can imagine, there was no answer. Half an hour passed and he said that he could give us the room he offered for 210 USD with a discount for 180 USD. he said. We really had a hard time holding ourselves back that night. And as a result, we had to spend the first day of our holiday in the lobby since we couldn't do anything else at that hour in a place we didn't know. And we tried for four days to get our money back and we had to go to that terrible hotel every day and have the problem solved by different people each time. We spent hours. The hotel and Agoda left us as a family stranded and ruined our holiday. The hotel and Agoda ruined our holiday by not fulfilling their duties. Neither the hotel nor Agoda cared about us. If I were someone living in America, I would definitely complain to all relevant institutions about this process I experienced with the hotel. Such disgraceful facilities should be closed if they don't do their job. If you think about yourself, don't...
Read moreIâm currently staying here. Upon arrival, we noticed there were no dishes in the kitchen. After calling the front desk, we were told dishes needed to be requestedâwhich the pamphlet in the room said would be delivered. However, the front desk told us we had to come down ourselves. The bin we received was broken and missing many items. There were only spoonsâno forks, no cups, and just one cooking pan. We had planned to cook meals to save money, so this was a major inconvenience. We noticed a grill in the courtyard and thought weâd use that. However, it was extremely dirty and clearly hasnât been cleaned in some time. There is no grease trap, and grease is dripping onto the propane tankâabout 2 inches thick below the grillâwhich seems like a serious fire hazard. We were also surprised to learn that no housekeeping is providedânot even for trash removal, towel replacement, or toilet paper. We placed our trash outside the door, and left towels out as a signal for replacements. The dirty towels were picked up, but no clean towels were left. When we asked the front desk, they told us again that we needed to go get them ourselves. When we did, the front desk staff said we were required to bring dirty towels down to receive replacements. She was reluctant to provide clean ones and only gave us a few face cloths and hand towels. Both elevators broke down, and we were forced to carry heavy bags up five flights of stairs. Weâre here for a dance competition, so we are moving large items often. I notified the front desk in the morning when one elevator broke, and by 9 PM, the second one was also down. Additionally, the fire alarm briefly went off around 9:30 PM, adding to the stress. I work in the hospitality industry and understand things happen, but this has been one of the worst hotel experiences Iâve hadâlack of basic services, safety issues, and poor cleanliness. Weâre booked for 9 nights and still have another week here. I hope this can be addressed quickly so my family can enjoy the rest...
