We stayed at Beachview #306 from 1/15-3/12/24 and would NOT use this rental company again. We spent most of our time going to the office and requesting items to be fixed, following up to see when they would be fixed and then requesting new items to be taken care of. I am not sure what Padre Island Rentals are supposed to be doing as a rental company, but if I was an owner and paying them money, I would definitely look at changing companies.
The ONLY positive experience we had the entire two months were Alberto and David in the office and the laundry staff were excellent to work with. The location of the building is wonderful as well as the pool and courtyard area.
When we arrived our coffee pot had such huge layer of burnt coffee on the burner it only smoked when you turned it on, we had two glass drinking glasses, master bedroom curtains were hanging by three hooks, cabinet next to dishwasher looked like termites had eaten most of it, furniture was filthy, dishwasher unusable due to rusted prongs and a big pile of dirt when I swept the floor. We had to keep the dishes on the counter because when you pulled them out of the cabinets to use the smell was so horrible you would have to rewash them before you could use them.
All of these items we had to report and follow up on most of them. The amount of time we spent of our vacation getting the unit livable was unacceptable.
We did receive a new coffee pot and four more glasses along with sheets to put on the furniture so we could sit on it the next day after reporting these items. We were told someone would come and fix the curtain rod the next day but was actually 12 days later as they had to order a new rod. (haven’t heard of Amazon?) They came and looked at the furniture and it was to be cleaned the next day but ended up being 8 days later. 16 days later a new dishwasher was installed.
The toilet in the guest bathroom was running so maintenance came to fix it. It was so rusted he had to get a sawzall to cut off the bolts to fix it.
Smoke alarm woke us up chirping as new batteries were needed. We also had to purchase new batteries for one of the remotes shortly after we arrived. When we told the front desk this they did provide us new remote batteries to replace what we purchased.
We asked four times to have a meeting with management and we were told on four different occasions by Alberto that he had asked management to review our issues and get back to us. No-one ever had the courtesy to call or meet with us.
As we were sitting at the pool during our stay, we visited with many other visitors and spoke of cost and what they were paying to stay. Not only did we get a dump of a unit that we had to take our time to bring up to living standards, we were paying almost $1,5000 more a month than anyone else in the complex. During our stay we went and visited seven other properties, two stand alone entire houses (both a full block from the beach) and five condos that were beachfront and all were at least $1,500 LESS than we were paying per month, and they were clean and move in ready. We we asked Alberto about the difference in the pricing his only answer was that they are able to get more for rentals because of their inventory. Again, we asked if we could speak with management but never a response.
Not only is this unit very OVERPRICED compared to other properties on the island and very UNDER managed.
Items we found unacceptable but did not pursue include the master bathroom cabinet door hinge ready to fall off, no baseboards under kitchen counter and bathroom and look like termites have eaten them, metal shelf over master bath stool legs are all rusted, walls and baseboards are dirty and need to be scraped...
Read moreWe’ve stayed many times in the Saida Towers complex. We love the proximity and walkout to the beach, and especially 24 hr security. The staff for the complex are always great. This condo was spacious, clean and had had all the essentials needed to make the most of the great week we had on the beach. I’ve always enjoyed the rooftop deck. My wife and older daughters could layout for tanning or I could enjoy a few beverages at night with the ocean breeze. This week and condo were definitely different than my prior experiences. As we arrived at the condo, it was clean and cool. I went to the master bedroom to switch on the fan and large pieces of plaster flew off from top of the blades. I started my vacation dusting off my head and sweeping. The bed was oddly off the frame by several inches. No idea why someone would do that, but easy enough fix without problems. As a father, I inspect all properties for danger. I’m glad I did when I went to the rooftop. I checked the railing and noticed the top-right horizontal rail was loose, but held. My main fear were two vertical bars that lost their welding at the base. They swung out with a small nudge. That was about 20” of open space for a child to fall out. I bring tools and cords for my own piece of mind and rigged them to give me temporary security. I checked my emails and noticed one from SPI Rentals welcoming me and stating if I needed anything at all, to please call or email. It was very late, so I emailed them... I never received a response. I was expecting someone to take special notice of the rooftop concerns. I wasn’t concerned about the bed or sweeping, but the lack of review or response from an email that says to do exactly that left me feeling less than confident someone on the other end cared. Aside from that, the fourth day in one of the ac units condensation line backed up. It’s located over the second full bath and leaked water around the light fixture. I couldn’t use that bath for 1.5 days until it was cleared and cleaned. I’m also not sure what was up with the water pressure. It would completely cut off for 5-20 seconds during showers or dishes. On to me being picky. The deco truly needs a redo. I’m well aware this is someone’s home, but it’s being rented for a quality time. This unit had MANY items to be careful around and was just overall clutter. So many knick knacks to be knocked over or just took up space. The rooftop patio cushions were very worn and torn; Just not appealing. Living Room TV was a tube TV, so any programs were cut off on the sides and bottom. (You know you watch and unwind too. Don’t judge me too hard) the kitchen sink had a detachable faucet head/sprayer. Anytime you stretched it, it would pinch and water would cut off. I wouldn’t use it except the lack of water pressure meant I had to cup water and push scraps toward the drain/disposable. Not bad, just really annoying. They had all the utensils we needed and pans. Note for renters: stop cutting food in pans!! Many of the pans to use had the Teflon scraped and cut. Something the unit couldn’t really manage was the night before checkout, one of the elevators quit. They had to call and someone had to be rescued. My guess is they had to kill power, so our rental was without electricity for 2 hours. That was fun checking out... with everyone else... and cleaning staff... using one... f’ing elevator. I lost 6 lbs...
Read moreCurrently I am sitting in the master bedroom of our 3 bedroom condo on lantana. We are staying in 302 opal. Why did I decide to leave a review now? Well. We have been here 2 days. In that time frame we have experienced the following: an elevator that doesn't work. Well to be fair it works when it wants to. Secondly our condo infested with ants and spiders. Nice. Also the wifi goes up and down. No clue why. We called at 9am to have it fixed reset whatever - and at 3pm someone came by. So 6 hours later. When we arrived the refrigerator wasn't cooling. So as we unpacked we watched a guy take apart the fridge to try and fix it. Luckily he was able to fix it. This morning we awoke to what sounded like a jack hammer on the roof. We look outside and we have painters hanging from the building slopping paint everywhere. Really nice way to wake up on our relaxing family vacation. Smell of paint. And sounds of hammering above our heads. Awesome. Did anyone disclose this prior to our reservation? Nope. Back to these ants. I feel very itchy as they are in all the rooms. Fun and relaxing! Not a chance. Sadly they missed the boat on this condo. To whomever owns this unit 302 opal on lantana - good lord please get someone who actually cares about the people renting your condo. We are looking at coming back 2-3 times a year. But would we stay here again? No. No. No. No way. Not to mention the malfunctioning pool and hot tubs. And the dead bird in the pool. Of course I cleaned the pool myself and no one cleans the pool. I just don't get it. With a few simple fixes and customer service that actually made us feel like someone cared we would be back many times. But as it sits currently not a chance. And to think. We still have 4 more days here to enjoy ! I can't wait. Blah!!!!
Update : vacation is now over and back home. I will have to give them credit for making a solid effort to make good on our situation I reviewed above. They came in and cleaned our condo. They removed the rugs and I assume sprayed for bugs. We received a letter of apology as well as a edible arrangement to say sorry. They also provided my family a dinner on Padre Island rentals. I did finally see someone clean the pool by the end of the week. We were promised fresh towels daily but that never happened. And we still battled ants daily in the condo. And the construction / painting crew was there every single day. So all in all. Not what we expected. Was it better? Yes. Was it what we expected and thought we paid for? No. But based on the efforts made I would be willing to give this property and this company a second chance. I just hope for better communication in the future if the building is under construction. And providing a pest free environment would be really nice as well. We will be back. Let's hope it's better as I will be sure to review. :). Thanks for the effort. We...
