Clean! Fudge is pretty good. I always buy Virginia Diner Zatarains peanuts and Scuppernong Jelly. I purchased many different jellies to try along with 5 bottles of hot sauce. I can hardly wait to use the Peach bbq sauce on a roasted pork tenderloin! There was a car show happening on this visit and some were decorated for Halloween along with a live band....Fun! The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5...two ladies working the register- one was very nice and tried to be accommodating and the other was a bit abrupt and abrasive. Once I paid-nearly $175.00 including the fudge- the 2nd lady looked to see how the first was coming along. The first was wrapping jars as fast as humanly possible. Instead of jumping in to help, she abruptly turned around and asked me to move out of the way so she could ring the man behind me - he had one soda. She did add a fake smile. The second seemed to be intimidating the first. In fact, the first lady felt she needed to apologize for carefully wrapping the glass jars and bagging the items to make it easier. I wanted to apologize for buying too much. I thanked her and told her how much I appreciated her protecting the items I purchased. At this point, I may not go back. It was a very...
Read moreThis is a very neat store! If you want it from Southport, you can get it here. Shirts, fudge, towels, ice cream, bags, jams. I found the prices to be what I expected. They have a lot of obviously old decorations, so maybe don’t believe the posted prices of vintage machines and coolers. $2 for a soda that’s cold and available and you didn’t have to carry around in a cooler of ice is probably worth it. $2 for a kids scoop of ice cream that’s really two scoops is just fine to me as well! I’ll make this my first stop when we come back. Also, my toddler fell immediately when we got in there and a cashier brought out a bag of ice for...
Read moreFalse advertising!!!! This market has an soft drink machine that cools and dispenses bottles of soda. The front of the machine advertises 25 cents for each bottle. The cardboard instructions taped to the machine say to open the door, take your soda, and pay at the cashier. The cashier rings it up as $2 + tax. Pure and simple false advertisement!!
All in all, this market is an over-priced Circle K that also re-sells corporately manufactured jams/spreads and peddles hats and shirts from a store a block away. Such a shame. Great space in Southport, just a really...
