Our family is a huge fan of the Clint's Reptiles YouTube Channel, but we wouldn't really ever consider ourselves reptile people. We entered expecting for us and our kids to see a bunch of reptiles, for our kids to maybe tentatively touch the tail of a snake, and then to call it a fun visit. That isn't what happened. Immediately one of the amazing staff members, Sawyer, who had a larger ball python around his neck and another small ball python checked us in and ran us through some clear instructions. Within 5 minutes, all of our kids were handling incredible snakes, all their fear melting away. We went from wanting very little to do with snakes to talking about how awesome it would be to get a pet snake.
The building was really crowded on a Friday and it was hard to get around at times, but there were snakes and reptiles for everyone to handle and learn about. The staff are amazing and knowledgeable: They know how to get a person from seeing a snake, to touching it, to holding just the back portion, to fully holding and interacting with it in no time. All that and none of our kids were ever pressured to go further than they wanted, though it didn't take any time before they were interacting with snakes like it was just a normal day. The reptiles in the room are many, varied, and are a joy to handle.
This is a worthwhile place to visit, even if you think you have a hard-line opinion on snakes and reptiles. And again, not to be too repetitive, but the staff were stellar and were the reason that visit was so successful for us. Thank you for...
Read moreHIGHLY recommend for birthday parties!!
We hosted our 6 year old’s “Wild Kratts” birthday party here. Some takeaways/ tips:
Capacity We had 40-50 people (between kids, their adults, and our family), and it was comfortable and doable.
Party planning They are flexible about decorations and food (share your cake with the staff!). You can communicate with the venue over text, so figuring out party logistics and asking questions was quick and convenient. If possible, I recommend booking the 2:30 time slot for Saturday parties. The earlier parties are booked back to back, but after the 2:30 slot, they have a buffer of time before opening to the public at 5:00, so you won’t be as rushed to leave.
The Experience The staff (especially Sawyer and Morgan) so clearly love their jobs. They’re kind, engaging, and knowledgeable. If you like the Kratt brothers, you basically get to have one for the day with Sawyer! The experience of interacting with the animals is laid back in the best way. Anyone that wanted to, could hold and carry around a snake as long as they wanted!! There was something so cathartic about the weight and peaceful movements of a snake on your shoulders.
We loved every minute, and had kiddos and adults telling us it was the best party ever...
Read moreTL;DR Clint and Emily are wonderful, passionate humans. This was one of the BEST experiences of my entire life. If you're thinking about visiting, just do it!
Where do I even begin? I'll start with a little about myself, for context. I'm NYC born and raised. I've been a long time fan of Clint's YouTube channel. I have a B.S. in biology, LOVE animals, love learning, and have a dozen spiders/tarantulas of my own. So of course I planned my entire bachelor-person trip around visiting Clint and his reptiles!
They say never meet your heroes, but I met Clint and he's just as wonderful and whimsical in person as he is on his channel. I had a large group of 14 people, all in their 30's, and all with very different interests and personalities. There were even 2 people with snake phobia, or should I say 2 people who USED to have a phobia. By the end of our reptile adventure, both of them were handling the snakes and ready to purchase snakes of their own!
All that to say, whether you're a seasoned snake enthusiast or new to the wonderful world of reptiles, you'll have an awesome time at Clint's...
