This place has always been great with my Dad .. Unfortunately this last visit He was admitted August 12,2025 and discharged August 19th after asking not to be discharged..While he was there, he was on 5 North..he had an exceptional nurse Yogi (he helped, cared and listened),but he also had a nurse Lynn W that denied him help, she discharged my father in Fair condition stating he needed assistance but yet wouldn't help him when asked . She told him he was capable of doing it..I know the discharge isn't her responsibility, but the doctor (Endocrinologist that called most the shots ) was off that Tuesday..the acting doctor that day did the discharge..I'm under the impression when a patient asked not to be discharged, they have the right to stay. Especially if they were not feeling well. Again, he was discharged in Fair condition. It's been a week and no call from the VA to check on him to send out blood work or anything...My mother has called to speak with a doctor last week and no return call.. It seems like I made a call to the patient advocate that morning August 19 ( my dad was left in his own feces for about 8 hours if not more,he was not givin a bath for over a week; except when I showed up to give him one. He wasnt given his pain meds although they were signed off on, he was denied help from a nurse ECT ECT) and he was discharged later that day... He is weaker now and has no energy. He was getting better but was released in Fair condition..make that make sense. .Do you all care about your veterans anymore? Or is this what my dad has to look forward too from now on.. He is 75, I sincerely hope nothing happens to him and you...
Read moreI have been to VA facilities in Georgia, Tennessee, and now Missouri. The care I receive at John Cochran VAMC is so much better than anywhere else! My primary care physician, Dr. Vijaya Sakhamuri, is the best and most attentive physician I have ever had in my life. My previous clinics in other states almost had a revolving door for physicians, they never stayed long enough for me to have more than one appointment with them, but I have seen Dr. Sakhamuri consistently for the last 1.5 years. I also receive stellar service from Optometry and Ophthalmology - I had a lesion removed from my cornea last fall and the cornea team did a beautiful job. I have healed well and have been to the clinic for several follow-ups. I am finally back to the "regular" optometry folks, and today I saw Dr. Nguyen - she took great care of me and did a comprehensive exam that answered all my questions. The glasses people were great too - they're a vendor, but I've dealt with them several times now and they're wonderful. The front desk staff in the eye clinic is super - those ladies are always friendly and helpful. Today I also got my COVID and flu vaccines at the walk-in lobby clinic, and it was fast and easy. The RN who did my vaccines was great. I am an RN myself and I'm pretty picky about my care, and I have no complaints! The valet parking has improved - it seemed like their drop-off and parking procedures were different every time I came to the hospital, but they have moved the entrance from Grand to Enright (just FYI for anyone so you don't have to swing around the block like I did :)) and it worked well today. Thank you to all...
Read moreI cannot believe how much they have improved over the last 4-5 years. I've hated going here for years, the service was usually poor & the care was hit or miss so I just gave up on them & paid for care myself. I've gone a few times in the last week & have more upcoming appointments, I have been thrilled with every aspect. Just walking down the hall employees would stop ask if they could help people find something. I check in via the kiosk and had my vitals taken within a few minutes, then went back to the waiting room where the GI doctor came to get me within 15 or so minutes. It turns out he had done a scope on me years ago & we made an appointment for a new one, he spent plenty of time with me and was just great. I went down for a labs which was around a 20 minute wait with no appointment. I checked in on the kiosk & was printed a ticket with a number, when it was my turn my number came up on the screen telling me which room to go to, the nurse apologized for my wait and was also very nice. Next stop, I needed a new ID. There was a decent amount of people in the waiting room, I checked in, got my numbered ticket & was surprised when my number came up in just a minute or two. Again, very friendly & helpful staff, I'll have my new ID sent to me in a few weeks. I came ready with 2 movies to watch on my phone for the hurry up & wait I was used to over the years, I barely watched anything.
The free valet parking was good, it take me a bit to get my car back when I was done but they were very busy, everyone was working hard.
This is the VA...
