My fiancé and I just happened to find this place and we decided to go in out of curiosity. they had a huge selection of all varieties. I have been in search of a specific record that my grandad used to play when I was young since his passing I’ve looked online and in every store that had records that I could find with no avail. I walked into their store and showed them the album art and within two minutes it was in my hand 15 years of searching and I finally had a piece of my childhood that vanished when he left this world. It’s a complete understatement when I say I’m happy with my experience with them I can’t recommend them enough.

She has a large collection however, the prices are outrageous for the quality of the media she has. A lot of it is damaged, faded, or illegible and she is asking premium price for it. Buyer beware download discogs before coming here so you're not ripped off. I saw a Metallica Master of Puppets cassette going for $15 but the sleeve was damaged and the ink on the cassette was barely legible. The proce she's asking for is for one that's in good or very good condition. Also, buy your CD's at goodwill. You'll find the same stuff and save money.

We enjoyed looking for records and then wondering around the HUGE antique mall. The selections are huge! You can spend days in there. Even though the space is enormous, it is very well organized. The isles are big and accessible. There are helpers around who can open cabinets and reach any items that are too high, or help with heavy things. There are clean bathrooms, lots of parking and even a place to sit and get something to eat (and rest between shopping).

This place has a very eclectic selection of vinyl, CD's, cassettes, and novelties. However, much of the content of the store belongs in the "used and abused" bin of a yard sale. Nearly all of her very heavily used albums are $20+ and of minimal collectabilty. These people scour second hand stores and Facebook market place searching for any and everything. I walked in and sold some CD's to her before and she wanted .50 to $1 per CD just to turn around and mark then up 800-1000%. PLEASE BE WARY of this place. It's organized junk worth hardly more than the sleeve it's packaged in. Some great alternative stores to save money, find quality and truly collectable pieces are Switz-Mix in Luray, Plan 9, and sidetracks in Charlottesville. Remember folks if you're a collector do your research on the pieces being sold to you before you buy. Don't buy an album worth $3 for $34.99 (the price which most of her vinyl are sold at) the only collection larger than the music is the dust...

Let me start off by saying this is my favorite record store. The selection they have is immaculate and if they don't have what I am looking for, they can try to order it. When I first went into The Vinyl Asylum, I met Tanya. She is the nicest, kind-hearted person that you could ask for. She was very helpful and knew what she was doing. After leaving the shop, I saw on the card that they do equipment repair. I contacted her about it and arranged to drop off my record/8track system that desperately needed repair. They were able to get it up and running as if it were brand new and the cost of repair was so reasonable. I will always, ALWAYS recommend The Vinyl Asylum to anyone I know who is looking for records. Please remember to support small/local businesses and always remember to BE KIND when you are doing so. People have gotten a little out of...

The owners are really friendly and down to earth and they have everything in there you can imagine and more, not just vinyls. They have shirts, 8 tracks, cassettes, CDs, pins, posters, collectors items, guitar strings, picks, mini amps, and basically every form of music media you can get including anything related to music merch! They can even order things for you and let you pick it up, also when you do sell music things to them they give you fair prices on what you have. It's fair prices all around buying and selling, and there's always something new to discover each time you go into the store so you can spend hours upon hours in there and you'll find something awesome each time! It's most definitely a record store to check out if you're...
