This place has a very eclectic selection of vinyl, CD's, cassettes, and novelties. However, much of the content of the store belongs in the "used and abused" bin of a yard sale. Nearly all of her very heavily used albums are $20+ and of minimal collectabilty. These people scour second hand stores and Facebook market place searching for any and everything. I walked in and sold some CD's to her before and she wanted .50 to $1 per CD just to turn around and mark then up 800-1000%. PLEASE BE WARY of this place. It's organized junk worth hardly more than the sleeve it's packaged in. Some great alternative stores to save money, find quality and truly collectable pieces are Switz-Mix in Luray, Plan 9, and sidetracks in Charlottesville. Remember folks if you're a collector do your research on the pieces being sold to you before you buy. Don't buy an album worth $3 for $34.99 (the price which most of her vinyl are sold at) the only collection larger than the music is the dust...
Read moreLet me start off by saying this is my favorite record store. The selection they have is immaculate and if they don't have what I am looking for, they can try to order it. When I first went into The Vinyl Asylum, I met Tanya. She is the nicest, kind-hearted person that you could ask for. She was very helpful and knew what she was doing. After leaving the shop, I saw on the card that they do equipment repair. I contacted her about it and arranged to drop off my record/8track system that desperately needed repair. They were able to get it up and running as if it were brand new and the cost of repair was so reasonable. I will always, ALWAYS recommend The Vinyl Asylum to anyone I know who is looking for records. Please remember to support small/local businesses and always remember to BE KIND when you are doing so. People have gotten a little out of...
