Pocono Family YMCA — Attraction in Stroudsburg

I am not a member here. I was using the gym as a benefit of the Gym Pass app.

The front staff was helpful and friendly and showed me around the facility.

For the area the parking is about normal, it can be a bit hard to find if you are not familiar with all of the one way streets in the area. The parking lot for the YMCA was free although on the small side.

The facility itself is one of the dirtiest and run down facilities I have ever visited. I was extremely shocked when I saw the condition of the locker rooms, showers and general hallways.

The weight lifting equipment was adequate and seemed mechanically functional, but it was beat up. I didn't use the pool or the sauna, I wasn't willing to risk getting athletes foot or something worse.

I would also like to add, that I have been a member of different Y's the majority of my life and participated on the swim team in grade school. With that being said I have also traveled and visited Y's in 49 different states as I have traveled for work and with the NAVY. This was the dirtiest and most rundown facility I have...

It’s not about how you start, it’s about how you finish.

From what started to be an unpleasant experience, has turned out to be a place I not only look forward to, but is a part of my everyday routine.

Keep in mind, I am bias, I only utilize the fitness center.

Don’t let the aesthetic fool you, not only is the place in the process (soon) of renovating, but the staff and community make the entire center a welcoming, interactive and caring place of leisure, opportunity and so much more.

Countless programs make it impossible to NOT find something to get involved in:

Swimming, weight training, basketball, badminton, cardio machines, youth activities, child care and SO much more.

This review is authentic, for I have spent my time coming back here before writing this, it’s hard to find a place that is not only welcoming, but has the persistence to make you feel a part of their community.

They are very unorganized I have a family pass and I signed up my children for swim lessons. I went in on Friday and asked about signing my 14 year old twins to a beginner class. She did not know any informantion on lessons.So I asked if I could call in and ask as well as register them she said for sure. A few hours later I called in a registered them, she took all my payment information and said she is registering them. I go the next day with my twins for their scheduled lesson and SURPRISE I get a call 11:55 this was 25 minutes after said lesson to tell me they are not registered and that they are not supposed to be in that particular class. This place is so disorganized my friend had a terrible experience with summer camp but never the less I still gave them a shot. Extremely disappointed terrible management they should know more about...
