Went into The Fishing village today to purchase an aerator for our fish tank after hurricane Isaias passed through leaving us without power. I browsed around upstairs and found a pair of men’s Sperry sandals on sale priced on the box $49.99 plus 25% off. Went to the counter to pay, #1 NONE of the three young men were wearing masks but customers are required to. #2. The first thing one asked is do you have cash, if not we have an ATM. Not hello, how are you, did you find what you were looking for. I got cash from ATM, then he tells me my total is $110+. I said wait a minute, $49.99 minus 25% plus $11.99 for aerator and &1.99 for batteries does not equal $110. So he goes upstairs to see the sale on the shoes, then rings me up a second time and wanted to charge me $90+ . I said the sandals should be $37.50 plus aerator and batteries should total approximately $52.00 plus tax. He said the sandals were marked wrong and I asked to talk to the manager or owner and he said you can talk to me. I stated you need to honor the price on the shoe box and he told the other young man, you don’t need to take their money. They were also going to put the sandals back on the shelf for the same $49.99 price which is false marketing. I have never encountered such rude service in my life and a customer in the store made excuses for the three men, saying they’re just teenagers!!! Being a teenager doesn’t give you the right to be rude and condescending to patrons. We have purchased fishing poles, supplies and clothing from here previously and the sales people were very nice, these three young men (I use that term lightly) are in the wrong business and the store has lost any of our future business as they are a poor representation for the...

Edit: the man was not very friendly and was not helpful when I asked questions. When he greeted me he asked what I needed, I responded I only wanted a 10 day license but before I could finish saying that he cut me off saying if I didn’t have my drivers license I couldn’t get a fishing license. I presented my drivers license and he processed my request.
When I asked if this license would cover me for fresh and salt water he flatly said no. He didn’t offer an explanation or anything. We stared at each other for several seconds before I asked what I needed in order to fish in the area. He then explained that my 10 day permit would cover me for the inter coastal region.
I got what I came for, so I’m not upset. I didn’t expect the red carpet when I walked in to purchase my fishing license, but I don’t care for the attitude the man...
Read moreThank you Sully and Doug! You guys (and a few other staff and store guests) saved the day for us. We came by in the spring after my clumsy son dropped his friend's expensive fishing pole in the sound. Although we retrieved it, the reel was caked in mud. You guys helped us salvage what was almost a completely ruined fishing pole/reel. As my son and I had no fishing knowledge, we really appreciated being treated with genuine kindness, patience, understanding and that you shared so much of your experience and knowledge to help us! I can't thank you enough. In addition to appreciating the service of going above and beyond for us, we love your shop and the huge selection of products with everything we needed! My son now loves fishing, so we look forward to seeing y'all again soon when we bring him back...
