TLDR; Pros: - pay insanely well on sealed items - don’t try to hustle you - business minded owner - best inventory in WA imo - cool layout - easy and cheap parking - good eats nearby lol - owner/worker aren’t rude. A lot of card shops have socially inept individuals who make you feel like you aren’t welcome. These guys were super cool to talk to, though! Cons: - not really a con but Tacoma is far for a lot of people. If it’s not far for you, ignore this. - no diet Baja blast in the cooler lol I’m on a diet ———— Sold majority of my collection to them and they didn’t hassle or negotiate hard. They paid extremely well. Definitely better than any shop/vendor/reseller would. And I appreciated the transparency by Jared (owner) with our deal. That’s rare to find in a business like this due to the amount of “hustlers” rather than legit business minded people. Past that, there was probably the best inventory (that I’ve seen) in WA with a very cool layout (love the tournament area being up in an arena type feel). Prices are comparable to anywhere, so you should get a better experience considering the variety. Beats out TableTop imo and the parking situation is much better (TableTop is obviously a good store as well). Wish I knew about this place before I move out of state but if I ever come back, this’ll be my new locals.

Metro Retro is an absolute treasure. As a longtime Pokemon nerd, I can’t help but geek out every time I go in. Aside from the best selection of Pokemon cards in Tacoma, there is an active and welcoming community of players that I regularly meet to play the game and hang out. I was immediately welcomed into the group and have had an awesome time making new friends and learning the ins and outs of playing. Jared is offering something quite special and I hope he continues to gain attention

Love(d) this place so so much. Have been going back every month for many months. There has recently been a change to prices for the worse, and major changes to what's on display. Seems a lot of cards are now kept under the counter and you aren't allowed to look through them, there use to be stacks of graded cards you could also look through and I was told those aren't available anymore. There used to be a box of damaged cards, they had cards sorted in boxes by sets... What use to be a place where you could find 95% of the things you were looking for if you looked hard enough has now become a place where I have no idea what they have because I cant look through boxes anymore as they are all behind the counter and when you ask to seem them you aren't allowed to touch them :/ a lot of this maybe due to the person working at the time, the lady working was very nice, but not super knowledgeable (I asked her what my account points I've earned do and she replied she didn't know). Every other time I have come to the store I believe I delt with the owner (or manager?) who is a super chill and awesome dude... Anyway I hope you guys figure out pricing and a way to display what you have, because I can't buy stuff I can't see or know what you have hidden away behind the counter. I'm rooting...

Visited this shop for the first time with my boyfriend and we really enjoyed the way they set up the shop, and the different kinds of merchandise they offered! It was cool to see everything from Pokemon clothes, to plushies, to figurines, to cards. The staff was super friendly and passionate about Pokemon which was nice to hear! However, the only complaint I have is that I was given a specific price for Pokemon cards I was purchasing from the bulk areas, 3 for $5, and when I finished paying I let my boyfriend know the pricing for when he went to pay for his bulk, and they told him the pricing was going to be $1.25 for most cards, and $1.75 for the holos, which he ended up paying a couple cents less than me and ended up getting 4 cards for $5 ish. I wasn’t too happy about the sudden price change, and not being able to pay the slightly lower pricing myself that my boyfriend was offered, and I also wasn’t offered any sort of price adjustment or fix. I just found it odd for pricing to change right infront of me after I purchased. Aside from that, it was a decent shop, nice and clean, and the card playing area was neatly set up! I hope to return and have a better...
