I came in to return an item today. The cashier asked if I had the same card I used to purchase it, ending in XXXX. I couldnât find any card ending in those #s, so I tried my PayPal one via ApplePay, thinking it couldâve been the one. The cashier then called for his manager, Jorge, to sign off on the return. When Jorge came over, he explained that every time I use ApplePay, it changes the last 4 digits of the card I used (and thatâs why I didnât recognize the last four digits the cashier was asking for), and that I just have to make sure I tap the correct card that was used to buy the item or the funds wonât be put back into my bank. At the same time he explained that, I was able to find the original transaction on my debit card, and told him that was helpful and made more sense. When I opened up ApplePay to use the correct card this time, Jorge had already completed the transaction. I asked if he could cancel that transaction but was told he couldnât do anything about it at that point, and that I would need to call World Market customer service. I told him that would be an inconvenience for something that wasnât my fault. He said that he didnât know I already scanned my card when he was called over by the cashier and that it wasnât his fault either. I told him that would be a communication issue between the cashier and him and that the cashier shouldâve told him more details about the situation. I then reiterated that spending time on the phone with customer service is an inconvenience for me. The cashier asked, âWhat is it that you are asking forâ I mean I hear you, but what is it that you are wanting?â I said, âAn apology wouldâve been nice because none of you guys have said sorry for this inconvenience.â The cashier said they were sorry and explain that the register is so old that they donât have the capability to reverse the return transaction. I told him thank you and that I appreciated it.
I understand that mistakes happen. I just did not appreciate how the manager handled the interaction and I expected more out of someone in a leadership position. In my line of work, when a client is inconvenienced by my job, I apologize to them on behalf of my workplace, because thatâs what good leaders do. Even after his cashier stepped up and apologized, Jorge failed to say sorry. This one and only star is for the cashier that outshined him in...
Read moreThis place used to be pretty magical a few years ago but it has really gone down hill. And theyâve started having workers follow you around to tell you about coupons and to join their loyalty program and it is so freaking annoying. Youâll be shopping and they just spring up and start bothering you or even interrupting you when speaking with your shopping partner. They dont take social queues and when you try to decline or donât show interest they just keep at it. Get rid of one and bam⌠thereâs another one. The pickings have gotten slimmer and slimmer as they have precious little in stock anymore it seems. I feel theyâve begun to focus on furniture more than âworld itemsâ and it essentially just feels like a Pier 1 now instead of a world bazaar. Not my favorite place anymore. The lines are SO LONG! And itâs probably because the cashiers also push the loyalty program and then want to chat about everything. Not everyone is an extroverted...
Read moreI literally just left, upset. Keep in mind I used to work here, and it was always an enjoyable time. But now being a customer who isnât white, no. I had come from another store that didnât give me a bag, so I planned to buy a mug there and get a bag. When I get to the counter. I tell her Iâm just getting the mug, she asked about the stuff in the basket (my crochet kit I bought from Joanns that they DONT even sell, and my destroyed hydro flask). Instead of just listening to me, she reached into my basket, even though I set it to the side until I got an bag and loudly asks her coworker, âDo we SELL THESE?â I stare at her, stating I have the receipt. Then she wants to backtrack after a giant pause, and then start asking me questions Iâm already upset and embarrassed about it. So if youâre going to shop here, donât bring ANYTHING from other stores even if they donât sell items even...
