Today I came to the boat park , surprisingly there was not a single vehicle in the parking lot or anyone sitting at the Cabana. By the time I pulled into the parking lot to toss a piece of trash in the garage can a Tempe park patrol or maintenance truck came into the park and blocked my exit. I went the opposite direction and a biker with full face covering came out of nowhere. As I am leaving another vehicle was speeding to the park. The Tempe truck went around the maria and came out as I had made it to the tunnel. A white vehicle appear to be following me to the highway. I have came to this park many times and it never cease to amaze me that I can't sit by the water in peace . Based on how it's set up I think it's a make out spot for people. Apparently these people think I'm selling something or want to buy something based on their actions. On occasion the men will stop in front of my vehicle to take their shirt off or they will mouth Are you good? The longest I have parked in this park is 15 minutes it's not a good location due to the one way exit. The homeless people on the bike trail start circling around as if they are casing the parking lot. One will pass by within a few minutes four to five bikes are on the bike trail. Because they have an advantage, based on what I can sense they hang out on the ridge giving them a Birdseye view and concealing their location. If I'm in the area I stop by the park to see if the situation has changed,it's been over six months and the same shabby crew is running the park . Be aware of your surroundings the homeless community have electric bikes they fly by on that bike trail like mosquitoes you are at a disadvantage due to the obstruction. They come from behind there and they are gone in seconds. I was outside my vehicle and I could hear someone whistling but I didn't see them by the time I entered my vehicle homeless person with a full back pack and walking stick came into view. As they started walking towards my vehicle I left the parking lot. The homeless person turned around and went back towards the ridge. Word of caution don't left the waterfront fool you that it's a place of peace, keep your head...
Read moreUnder appreciated and under developed is how I would describe Tempe Town Lake. Well, under developed in the sense that there are relatively few amenities in place for residents, such as picnic tables, ramadas, playgrounds, water fountains, etc. Very little diversity in infrastructure means you’re likely to get bored quickly. The area is quickly becoming over developed with big business buildings, parking garages, and overpriced (and cheaply made) “luxury” apartments. Much work remains to be done in order to turn this area into a walkable thoroughfare. Currently, it’s a food desert with sterile, angular buildings. Large unfinished plots of land give you the impression that the planners simply ran out of ideas. It’s not a livable place., by any stretch, but the marketers continue to reel in the residents somehow.
On the other hand, Tempe Town Lake offers local residents a nice place to get out for a jog or a bike ride, or even a voyage on a paddle board for the more adventurous among us. Not sure if the water can be trusted, considering that fish often float belly up in this manmade body of water.... Anyhow, it’s not a bad place for a date, as a stroll around the “lake” can be quite peaceful and serene at times. Just don’t be...
Read moretempe town lake, oh what an experience. we rented the bird scooters and had a blast. even without them, it's such a pretty place to talk and hang out. my best friend and I were here for a few hours just taking in the sunset and vibes. plenty of walking paths and so many places downtown you could go and eat etc. we had a really good time. and we liked it so much we came back the next night too. fyi the bird scooters, a little more info, you'll need the app to unlock and begin the rides. and it's roughly 48¢ a minute. they max out at 18 mph and are solar powered. you can lock them say if you're grabbing food and you can park it outside. and when you're finished you just end the ride on the app and you can park it wherever (within reason of course). overall, the atmosphere is lively and everything is pretty well lit. the park does close at midnight so just be sure to have your fun...
