Berry Divine Acai Bowls — Restaurant in Tempe

I am absolutely mortified! A year or so ago, I came here and got my normal Vortex bowl, however, I felt that it had far too much granola. I went and inquired as to why, but I was not met with very little concern. Back then, I felt a rude vibe that I found to be off putting. However that did advise me going forward to request only one scoop to prevent any more similar occurrences. Going forward, I did just that as I continued to frequent Berry Divine. There were no further issues and I continued to enjoy and frequent Berry Divine.

Today, however, I ordered my normal large Vortex and took bites as I sat in my truck distracted by work etc….. When I was halfway finished, I noticed that the granola was continuing to dominate the bowl. I went inside to politely remind the cashier of my request, as I was confident that she would remember and wish to make it right.

However, I observed what appeared to be the these young ladies closing ranks and viewing me with suspicion. I was extremely uncomfortable as they advised me to dump the granola out myself, and they would add extra acai. This struck me as odd, as there seemed to be no accountability on their part for the blunder. I admit that I had eaten half and would have accepted a new small bowl, but now, my concern was with the suspicious vibes they were giving off, rather than my stupid Acai bowl. So, I asked the girl that appeared to be in charge what the issue seemed to be. She replied, “I recognize you, and you do this alot, trying to get free Acai.” I felt as if I had left my own body! Why would she say something so far from the truth!?! Had I known that my character would be unnecessarily called into question from trying to get a little bit of what I had payed for, I would NEVER have even complained. What resulted next was a minor scene. A customer that had no idea what had taken place decided to speak up for the employees because she perceived that they were calm and I was upset. I get it, she didn’t hear what they said to me, and probably didn’t care. But I couldn’t walk away after that accusation. I wasn’t angry, I didn’t cuss, swear or call names. But I stood with intensity, trying to get some kind of resolve from the unexpected pain of their shocking accusation. I was frozen from embarrassment. I literally did not know how to react. I had only had one negative experience at this place amongst dozens of positive experiences. I left these young ladies tips, despite them being rude at times. They had no right to call out my character for expecting to receive what I asked for, then patronize, gaslight and dismiss me as if I’m some common moocher. I had EVERY right to be highly offended! I gave them back whatever was left of my bowl and refused to take anything from them. I thought that they recognized and knew me as a good customer. I had only politely complained once, a long time ago, and received nothing because I learned how to order going forward, no problem. But I would never plot to get free food!

I will never ever step foot in this store again. I’m sure they perceived me to be angry and the problem was my own, but the truth is that I was/am deeply hurt and offended at the indignity! I came her A LOT, I thought they recognized and appreciated my service. But, apparently they think I’m a bum, even though they’ve NEVER given me anything free. I, however, have spent more than my share of money. It’s obvious that these children that work here haven’t learned to be careful in what they say to hard working people that they truly...

This location used to be my favorite Açaí spot. Tonight was major disappointment. My partner and I got our usual large açaí cup and when we got our order the portion was half way filled in the cup. That’s including fruits and granola. Like seriously, you charge almost $15 for a large cup and you present to your customers a half filled cup. Their excuse was “we weigh the amount of açaí that goes into each cup.” It’s fine if they say they weighed it but still they gave me a HALF filled cup which is the portion of regular size portion filled in a large cup. They had the nerve to stand there and say to their customers that’s how the portions is. I’ve been to this location several times and it has never been this little of a portion. When I see pictures online customers are getting their cups filled up to the top whether it’s small, regular or large. I wish I took a picture of that cup, but unfortunately I didn’t. I won’t be going to this location EVER again, not just because of the amount of açaí in the cup, but also because of how horrible the customer service was at this location.
