Pros: It’s beautiful, it’s close by, has plenty of space to get a great paddle board workout in when short in time, there are lots of local attractions like the museums, restaurants, shops, etc. There are businesses that offer boat/paddle board/ pedal boats/party tube rentals, etc. on the opposite side of he lake from the beach, oh and the parking for the beach is free!
Cons: The water can get a little gross from the heat in the summer months, the algae can also get a bit out of control, the surrounding area can be a little interesting, the parking lot has cars missing parts and tons of broken glass-since I was wearing flip flops I was just extra careful to not get any inside my shoes, at night the area can get a little sketchy. If you’re coming alone, I’d recommend visiting during the day, and I’d make sure to lock your doors and don’t leave any attractive nuisances in your car (ie: visible money, keys, chargers, phones, purse, wallets, anything exciting, etc.)
All-in-all it’s a great little oasis in the middle of the city-and if you take a couple precautions it’s a fantastic place to cool off...
Read moreI like to visit tempe town lake in the evening especially because of the view and surroundings. You can go for a run, skate, or cycle on the tracks around the lake. Just be careful of the others to avoid the accidents. You can also rent pedal boats and other equipments for water activities near the lake. There is a rental unit on the lake itself. Nice gathering in the evenings especially during summer. It’s a good place to relax in summer for the evenings but not during the day as there are not enough covered areas to sit under. It’s a good place to watch sunset if you are in the city and the sunset over the bridge is ok if don’t want to drive miles for the view. There are many residential and corporate buildings nearby so it becomes busy in the evenings. The boundaries of the lake are not high and open at many locations so make sure you keep eyes on young ones just to be safe. Overall a good place to spend evenings in the city of Tempe. There are not many outdoor locations with water in the city so it provides a cool Spot for evening...
Read moreTempe Town lake is a man-made lake that used to be a dry riverbed. It is actually kinda of cool between Mill Ave walking over the bridge and the Marquee theater right there. you know you get a constant influx of people plus the people who come through for the actual lake itself. it offers beauty and it doesn't look too bad with the new skyscrapers, going in for a almost futuristic look. as far as tourism goes it brings a new pulse to this part of tempe and no one really knowing what the future of this part of the valley will look like. it's a unique additive to Tempe, I have enjoyed myself on the lake many times before or after a concert or hanging out on the bridge while having an evening on Mill Ave. it's a nice drive by or it's nice to hang out at. its beautiful addition to an ever-growing City the skyscrapers new to Tempe though an eyesore with the view of the lake are what's the word I'm looking for very modern it's interesting to see where Tempe will be in the...
